Physics 3-28-18 Waves

PHYSICS: Hey guys! Here’s our discussion on the properties of waves. Remember anything from your earlier 8th grade physical science days? Problems are pretty simple for you, I think. Do you remember the main formula from chemistry? Speed = wavelength x frequency (c = λf).

HOMEWORK UPDATE: All the book homework from waves will be due Friday.

Easy peasy – and don’t forget the applications!

  1. This week in physics I would rate myself a 4/5 because I undestand the material and did well on the experiment with bungee jumping. A triumph of the week was dropping our egg, and it came as close as possible to the ground without hitting it. A struggle of the week was trying to figure out the spring constant for the rubber bands that we were using.

  2. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. We were able to get our egg extremely close to the ground without it hitting the floor, despite what the slanderers say. I was really glad to see that happen because it took a while for us to figure out why what should work wasn’t working. I also enjoyed the introduction to waves and all of the demos. I feel like I understand them fairly well and am ready to keep learning about them.

  3. This week was really fun. I would have to rate myself a 4/5 overall this week. My group in the bungie lab did very well and made it very close to the ground. I also believe I am really understanding waves so far. This was a great week and I hope next week will be even better.

  4. This week I would rate myself a 4 out of 5 because my group did very good on the bungee egg drop. We struggled to figure out what we needed at first, but we eventually worked through it together. I have been doing good on the introduction to waves and have understood the concepts. I hope it keeps getting better and we all finish strong.

  5. This week was a fun week in Physics. Although it took about three days, we finally finished the Egg Bungee Drop lab. It took a while to initially figure out what to do, but once we found out it went well! I need to work on thinking better first steps for future activities. We also learned about the motions of waves. I’m doing well with the current concepts and math! Hopefully I will do well on the test.

  6. This week i would rate myself a 4 out of 5. The egg bunjee lab was a major success. My partner and I were able to consistently make the egg drop within a few centimeters to the ground. I didn’t understand the material too well so I’m going to have to work on that a little. Overall this was a pretty good week.
