  1. Our first week back from spring break in Physics went by surprisingly quick! We had design challenges most of the week. First, we had to transport rice using a neutrally buoyant air transport. We did pretty well in that challenge. Next, we learned about simple harmonic motion and got to build a pendulum to escape from a jail the day after. We didn’t do so hot on the last challenge but we will do better next time! We will be hard at work on the Rube Goldberg project this weekend.

  2. This week in Physics was a whirl-wind! I really enjoyed all of the design challenges we had this week because they are helping us to prepare for our Rube Goldberg project. I would say that the highlight of the week was when Matthew and I timed three minutes exactly during the escape challenge! We were able to apply what we learned about harmonic motion and design a pendulum out of random objects. The most challenging part of this week was trying to save the RICE people. I felt like we could have improved our design if we would have applied more of our Physics knowledge.

  3. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. Our first design challenge did not go very well since I could not keep the device afloat as well as I would have liked but we still got the rice people home. I enjoyed the introduction to periodic motion and was overhoyed about how well our design challenge went today with the perfect timing of our pendulum.

  4. This week I would rate myself a 3 out of 5. We started off the week with a design challenge. This challenge was definitely a big triumph. My partner and I completed the challenge in both the fastest time and carrying the most weight. The other design challenge this week was not so much of a success. We did not get very close to building a device to tell time. Overall it was a fun week and am looking forward to getting started on the Rube Goldberg project.

  5. This week I would rate myself a 3 out of 5. I started off the week pretty strong with the balloon challenge. We didn’t have the fastest or most rice, but it was still a success. The success continued with my group getting together to discuss our Rube Goldberg project because we made a lot of progress as far as planning and I feel like we have good ideas collectively. The downfall of this week was the final design challenge to tell time because we had some miscommunications which cost us majorly. I hope the final 9 weeks of physics goes uphill from here
