Hon Chemistry 1-30-18 Chapter 4 Overview

HON CHEMISTRY: God bless as you study for the chapter 4 test! Since we weren’t able to record today, I’m posting an overview from a couple of years ago.

Have you checked out the Chapter 4 Stuff to Know Sheet? Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to memorize the things you need to memorize so that you can apply them on the test. And practice, practice, practice, the problems and electron configurations. Did I mention that already?

What about applications for discussion? Photoelectric effect, spectroscopy, etc.? Another great idea for studying is to watch the videos that we watched in class, and others – super helpful as you study for the test!! Here are some of them:
Spectrum of the Stars (overivew of the results of the spectroscopy lab you did, shows the connection between our lab on spectroscopy and how we can identify elements), Emission Spectrum of Hydrogen (how we use it to know about the energy levels in an atom), Quantum Mechanics (about the roles of Bohr, Schrodinger, Heisenberg), and also Animated Quantum Mechanics.

Help session tomorrow morning, 7:20ish A.M. God bless you as you study! I’ll be praying for you!!

  1. This week I would rate myself 4 out of 5. I made it through the first chemistry test of the second semester. We also had a fun lab today and my lab group got to see the lights.

  2. This week’s triumph was making it through the test. I’m really hoping I did well. Also, today, I enjoyed the lab. It was so fun watching things glow.

  3. I would rate myself a 4/5 stars. I have learned and understood the material so far. I was productive in studying for the test. I wish I had taken my time on it though. I guess I know that for the future now. The lab today was a success!

  4. This week I triumph was getting an answer right on the test I thought I missed. I am so shook, like bless Jesus! And the lab this week was very enjoyable. I accidentally smushed my hand, but besides that it was really fun!

  5. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I studied a pretty good amount for the test, but it was rough due to me running out of time. I didn’t finish one of the problems or check all of my work. Hopefully I didn’t make a lot of careless mistakes. I have now learned to work more quickly and also to look over the test and decide when to do which kinds of problems. However, the lab yesterday was really fun and my group had success in seeing and eating the objects.

  6. A success for me this week was that then two labs I did were very fun and well carried out. It was a really fun learning experience and very very interesting. I also studied extensively for the test and I hope it paid off 🙂

  7. This week was a 2/5 for me. The labs were done well and I didn’t have any trouble with them, but the test completely messed me up. Even though I studied I ended up studying the wrong thing and didn’t do the best I could.

  8. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I prepared for my test, but I didn’t manage my time very well during the test itself. However, this week in chemistry has been one of the most fun weeks I’ve ever had during school. The triboluminescence lab was fascinating, and the chain reaction activity we did today was very fun. Since we did these fun activities, I do not dread class, and I feel excited to learn.

  9. I’d rate myself a 3.5/5 this week. I really really loved yesterday’s lab and getting to eat the sugar cubes and mints (and seeing them glow, of course). The test stressed me out so bad, but I finished it so that is a triumph. I’m a bit sad I missed what we did today with the wave thing but I saw plenty of videos of it online.

  10. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I studied hard for the test, but I don’t know how good I did on the test. But I loved Wednesday’s lab and seeing everything glow. I also loved the chain reaction activity although it took forever to build !!

  11. This week i rate myself a 4/5. I loved the lab we did Wednesday! My group and I successfully did the chain reaction and we completed our “new” periodic table.

  12. I rate myself a 5/5 this week. I felt pretty good (for the most part) on the test and I’ve really enjoyed the fun labs this week! I wish this was a normal week in Chemistry. So fun!!

P.S. RIP to our chain reaction…

  13. My triumph this week was studying for the test and feeling confident about it. I also did well on all the labs and I finished the homework. Overall I rate myself a 4/5.

  14. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week because I think I did decent on the test and the labs were fun. Just not the writing up part.

  15. A triumph this week was getting through my test and finishing it with time to check my answers. I think I did okay for my first test in a while. And the labs we’re a fun bonus!

  16. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I felt good about the test and labs we did throughout the week. Assignments didn’t pile up on me so I’ve been pretty comfortable.
