# Physics 10-25-17 Newton’s 2nd & 3rd Laws

PHYSICS: So an object at rest can be at equilibrium, but what about an object that is moving? And how does equilibrium relate to Newton’s first law? Or Newton’s second law? And what if you don’t have balanced forces. Here’s the lecture from today on just that! Now remind me, net forces produce what?

Oh, and while we’re at it, you’d rather hit a hay stack than a brick wall why?

We have been learning all about Newton and his laws this week in Physics. We started out at the end of last week with his first law by working the simple problems and then expanded our reach to his second and third law today. We got to see for ourselves his third law in action with our balloon helicopter thLab last night. It was very interesting to see how all actions have equal and opposite reactions, especially with propellors in flight! Although I am getting the answers, I really need to work on showing every step of the way so I can get full credit on the test! I can’t wait to see if we get to do any big labs with Forces next week!

This week in Physics I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 stars. We learned about Newton’s Laws of Motion, and we were able to apply them to everyday occurrences by performing demonstrations in class. I really enjoy the in-class demonstrations because they help me to visually understand the concepts of each law. In class, we are working on a Capstone lab to demonstrate Newton’s Third Law. At first the lab was challenging because we had to learn how to use Capstone, but now that we have the hang of it, it’s easier.

This week I rate myself 2 out of 5. It was a pretty challenging week this week. The force problems that we worked at the beginning of the week were tricky. I did not really understand how to work them at first but I am improving a little bit. The capstone lab was also challenging. Matthew and I could not seem how to figure out how to work it. We did start learning how to work it though. I hope next week will be better.

This week I would rate myself a 3 out of 5. We are learning all about Newton and his laws and how they are used. I’ve enjoyed all of the examples that we were shown in class and I thought the helicopter lab was an interesting to show Newton’s 3rd law. I struggled this week with the capstone lab but we figured out the program and started to get it better.

I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I struggled a little bit with the concepts behind the problems so I hope to learn more about them next week, but I did get most of them right I just need to make sure I show enough work so that my thought process can be followed. The capstone lab frustrated me at first because it can be tricky to work with, but I think we have it down now so we will be able to finish it quickly on Monday.

This week in physics I would rate myself a 2/5 because I struggled with the homework and the capstone lab. This week I struggled with explaining how I got the answer on the homework. A triumph of the week was finally figuring out how to work capstone.

This week in physics has been long. I would have to rate myself a 2/5 because I was struggling with the lab. My group and I just could not figure out how to work capstone. It felt good when we finally got it to work and I’m ready to finish the lab Monday. I also struggled with some of the problems because I didn’t prove my answer. I believe I’m getting better at the problems though. I’m happy I survived this week and I’m ready to get back to work next week.
