Hon Chemistry 4-18-19 Testing For Gases Lab

HON CHEMISTRY: Here’s a very, very short look at the positive tests for carbon dioxide, oxygen, and hydrogen gases for the experiment: Making and Testing for Gases. We’ll do the lab on Tuesday when we get back from Easter break. Make sure you have shown me the three balanced equations you’ll need for the experiment. I think you’ll have lots of fun with this one. 🙂

  1. This week I rate myself a 3/5 in chemistry. I did better on the quizzes than I thought I did, but I know I can improve for the test. I really need to work on balancing equations because I still don’t fully understand it. My goal this Easter weekend is to memorize the rules more and to finish my research for the chemistry project.

  2. This week I would rate myself a 1/5. I have been out of town for the past eight days, so I am very very behind in all of my classes. I cannot find the motivation to actually catch up on my homework, but because of that I just continue to get more and more overwhelmed. I don’t know how I’m going to finish all the work I have to do in time to be up to date on Tuesday. I’m doing my best to be positive this weekend, but I don’t know how I’m going to keep up with everything I’ve missed as well as continue to move forward in both my school life and my extracurricular activities. Maybe this rating is a little bit on the negative side, but I am honestly very disappointed in myself and my lack of motivation to continue going strong for the remainder of my sophomore year. Maybe these next weeks will be better, but I don’t know how I’ll get there from here.

  3. This week in chemistry, I rate myself a 2/5. I could have done better on the quiz, especially since it was just a small detail left off that I knew but forgot at the moment. On the worksheets we did, I again made several simple mistakes, such as not writing the correct charge for carbonate and not remembering diatomic molecules. This week has been full of simple mistakes.

  4. This week I rate myself a 2/5 because I haven’t been in class, and therefore, haven’t gotten a lot done at all. I am very overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to make up, but I know I will get through it. Spiritually, however, I feel that I am closer to God than I have been in a very long time. So in this way, it has been a very successful week!

  5. I would rate myself a 4/5 for this week. I loved the lab we did. I very worried about our future test and project though. There are so many rules to memorize and know how to apply. I also really need to get started on my project. I know I can’t procrastinate or I won’t succeed on either of these assignments. Hopefully, I will find time next week to get started and get a good jump on it. I’m really looking forward to this project as it is really just an application of all the knowledge we’ve compiled this year, so it’s really cool to see how it applies in real world situations!

  6. This week I would rate a 3/5. The worksheets were filled with simple mistakes and so were my quizzes but overall I’m happy with my quiz grades. I also missed a lab but atleast I was there for some of it so I have a better understanding of what I’ll need to do when making it up.

  7. This week I rate myself a 3/5. I am happy with most of the grades I got, but I feel as if I did not contribute enough to lab we did earlier this week.

  8. I can’t believe I forgot the webpost! I was even reminded by a third party and totally disregarded the heads up. This week in Physics, I’ve enjoyed learning about sound, resonance, and waves. It’s amazing how God made our ears and the ears of animals like elephants the size they are for a reason. I had never even thought about why elephants have such large ears until you mentioned the size of infrasound wavelengths. I am enjoying this chapter and understanding all of the formulas behind it. As for Rube Goldberg, we have been having to work around each other’s schedules, but tomorrow and Monday, we are going to finish up what we have left on it. Overall, this week has gone pretty well.

  9. This week I rate myself a 4.5/5. I really understand how to balance chemical formulas. The different types of reactions are also very easy for me to understand. This week I did extremely well on the homework, and the labs were very insightful in how the chemical reaction occurs. I did much better for preparing for the test this by studying in advance and doing A LOT of practice problems. I feel that I did well in the test. I really liked this chapter in chemistry because I actually understood everything we learned. Overall, this week has been a great week, and I am excited for the weekend.

  10. This week I rate myself a 3/5. This week was very stressful because I was attempting to balance makeup work, current work, and studying, all while still trying to make it to bed at a decent time (safe to say that I need more practice at balancing life equation haha get it). Despite not managing my time as well as I had hoped, I was able to complete all of my makeup work by today. I am very worried because I haven’t done much work on the project yet. Hopefully I will be able to get the majority of it done this weekend-otherwise my goal is to finish it by 1:15 pm on Tuesday. I will be praying for y’all this weekend and hope y’all will do the same for me.

  11. This week, I rate myself a 4/5. I have been working on my project, and I feel like I have a plan for what I am doing. I have my 10 items and have began to put everything together. I haven’t started in the lab write-up, but I hav even told it doesn’t take long. Also, I didn’t prepare for the test today as much as I normally do (because of the project), but the test was very easy, and I felt like I did great!

  12. I rate this week a 3/5! I did not feel confident in the skills for the test, because I have been focusing on the project more than the test. I feel confident in the 9 items I have chosen. I am still deciding on the last one. It’s been fun writing the actual story, it has made me want to go to South Africa with my 10 supplies and see if I could actually survive lol! My goal is to be completely done with the project by Sunday night, so I can make sure there’s no surprises or conflicts with my printer and laptop.

  13. This week I rate myself a 3/5 because I don’t feel very proud of myself this week. I was too busy working on make-up work and studying for the test to work on the project a lot, so I feel somewhat behind. However, I have been working very hard tonight and have gotten 7 items completely written! My goal is to be done by Monday so I can make any edits and print it out in time. I can do this!

  14. This week has been a struggle to say the least due to not understanding all of the lessons. I would rate myself a 3/5. During the test today, I didn’t understand the discussion question. Although I could have studied better, I feel okay about the equations. Now I just have to work on my project and get this A!

  15. This week isn’t even halfway over with, and I’m already rating myself a 3/5. The lab today was hard to understand, but I think it was because I’m exhausted. I stayed up too late finishing the Project because I didn’t realize how much time finishing it would take. Looking back, I should’ve worked more on it at the beginning. But I still finished! So that’s why I give myself 3 stars.
