Physics 1-10-19 Collisions Problems with Energy & Bouncing

PHYSICS: Great job on the problems so far!! Here’s our look how kinetic and potential energy get involved – dart in the block of wood and the bird on the swing. This cute little bird isn’t on a swing, but he is one I came beak to nose with on a mission trip to Costa Rica!

What about even more practical applications? Light bulb? Questions??

  1. What a week it has been! It has been very long, and the weekend is very much needed. I still can’t believe that it’s only been the first full week back since Christmas… it’s been a little rough getting back into the swing of things. I’m getting better at the momentum problems, but I know I still need to practice some more, especially the problems like the bird where I have to remember all the stuff from Chapter 1 and apply it. I feel like I’m either a sloth or a snail, whichever one is slower πŸ™‚ Hopefully this weekend I can recharge so I can think a little faster! I am excited about beginning my light bulb project prototype since I have an idea that I’m eager to see if it’ll work or not! I guess we’ll know by next week’s webpost for better or worse…. Happy Friday Ms. Skinner!

  2. I have successfully completed my first full week of school of 2019! So far, it’s going great! I have been staying on top of my work and paying attention more in my classes, and it’s showing in how much better I’m understanding things. I find momentum and collisions to be very interesting and can’t wait to learn more about them. The problems are tricky, but not quite as hard as things we’ve done in the past (I will probably regret saying that next week when we are doing the really hard ones haha). The problems like the dart/block and bird/swing ones trip me up because I just don’t know where to start. Once someone tells me, I can finish working it, but I have trouble knowing where to begin on my own. That is something I want to work on in this next week.
