Happy New Year 2019!!

Happy New Year!! Aren’t you glad that God gives us a chance to start all over again?

We are going to have an awesome 2nd semester!! I’m praying that God will use this semester to help get you ready for the incredibly wonderful things in has for you in the future!! And more than that, I pray that this year you’ll grow more than any other in your walk with our Lord Jesus. I pray that you’ll be determined to follow Him, no matter if you have to walk by yourself.

I can promise you – Jesus will never forsake you!

Happy New Year!!

  1. My goal for this semester is to get a better grade and hopefully an A on a test. I will do this by not waiting to the last minute. I will also do this by not just memorizing my notes but applying what I’ve learned by working out problems.

  2. My goal for this semester is to not over work or stress myself. I will try to get the work done earlier or study more so I can be prepared. Last semester when I would get a test or lab I would stress over it so much that I would forget the information. Also I will study more and find a way of studying that helps me. I know that on the past tests I didn’t study as much as I should’ve and it reflected in my grades. So I know what areas I need to work on to better my chemistry grades this semester.

  3. I can’t believe that the New Year has began! This semester I am going to pace myself so that I can do my work in a way that does not burn me out or cause me to become overwhelmed. By doing this in school and out of school, I will be able to do better with my schoolwork and help me in life in general. My goal is to manage my time and to do this I need to be diligent in my work and to be mindful of my time

  4. This semester, I am really going to try to not procrastinate with my homework assignments. I know that has been something I’ve said in multiple webposts, but maybe with this new year it will really stick! When I procrastinate, things build up and it leads to me getting so stressed that I just shut down and can’t work haha. But this semester I’m going to stay on top of things! I’ve started this year off at Passion, which has been such an amazing reset for me. I’m ready to go into this semester and really give me all for my last few months!

  5. My goal this semester is not to miss any homework’s. I’m am going to write my assignment down. And complete most of them over the weekend.

  6. What is the meaning of life? For the past year, I’ve been in a constant debate with myself over this question, as well as countless others like it. What if heaven and hell don’t exist and my consciousness just permanently ends when I die? What if I tomorrow? None of these questions have a right answer, but I still think they’re important to ask. It shows where we doubt Jesus, so we can then work on fixing it. That is my main non-chemistry goal for this year: to improve my relationship with God. This past year I have identified where I trust Him least, so now all I have to do is pray about it and have faith instead of doubt. As for a chemistry goal, since there’s no “project” I guess I’ll try to not procrastinate if there happens to be a large, multi-week paper assigned in the middle of the semester. Personally, I do better if I have a definite goal instead of a vague one. It allows me to better focus my attention instead of trying to tackle it all at once, and it keeps me from making excuses. So, while I also want a high average and to do better on labs like others, I know that those things are somewhat vague and there are multiple ways to reach them. For example, to get a better average you could study more, spend more time on homework, pay attention more in class, etc. Thus, if I gave myself that as a goal, I would probably be content in just doing one of those when in reality I should be doing all of them. A second chemistry-related goal for me would be to better understand acid-base reactions, and more specifically how they relate to chemical equilibrium. For me, equilibrium is one of the coolest concepts in all of science because it’s this hopelessly complicated system with millions of millions of reactions every instant, and yet it can be very closely approximated with relatively simple equations! Then, there’s the fact that acids, which range from eating your face off to lemonade, are closely related to it. Something about it is just so cool, and I can’t wait until I learn some more about differential equations so that I’ll be able to better understand them. My third and final chemistry goal this semester is to find out what group theory has to do with electron orbital configurations. I understand that electrons act as members of a group because they can only change energy levels in certain ways, but I don’t really see how using abstract algebra helps much in this situation. I know some group theory, and unless I’m just missing something very obvious, none of the theorems seem very applicable to chemistry whatsoever. As a side note, I have no idea how Jackson P. managed to get over 600 words without rambling. I’ve been typing this for 30 minutes and I still barely have over 450. He’s a lot better at English and writing than me though, so he probably wrote his much faster. To conclude, my main goals for this semester are to grow with my faith in God, not procrastinate on the project, learn more about acids and bases, and learn how group theory applies to chemistry. A motivational speaker once said, “writing down your goals is the first step in reaching them.” I have written (or technically typed) my goals down, so now all I have left to do is do them. Finally, I would just like to point out that I have one more word than you other Jackson.

  7. My goal for this semester in physics is to try to be more on top of my assignments. This includes both studying even harder on tests as well as putting more effort into my lab reports. I also hope to do a better job of working ahead so that I don’t allow myself to become stressed from all of my assignments. Hopefully this semester I can achieve all of these goals!

  8. my goal for this semester is to stay organized and in top of things the rest of the year with in chemistry and in my other classes. i tend to be kind of organized with my school work the first day back but after that it just goes downhill. i will achieve this goal by printing out every syllabus every sunday and/or by using my planner more. i also will get right on top of my homework right when i get home instead of getting distracted and not starting on it until the next day.

  9. For the remaining time I have in chemistry my goal is to have a B+ for the semester, because let’s be honest an A+ is very unrealistic looking at my semester one grades…. but for me to achieve my goal, I need to stop procrastinating. Instead of coming home and sleeping or watching netflix I should start on homework or get ahead on whatever I can and not wait until sunday night or just last minute in general. I also should start studying and going over my notes from class everyday so I can better understand what we learned that day and won’t forget by the next. For this I could make quizlets or flash cards or just read them off over and over again and practice problems if needed. Also, if I stop wasting my studyhalls and doing something productive in them—like actually studying or homework that isn’t due the next period, I know I can achieve my goal. I will try my hardest this semester to follow through with this and not give up, pray for a sister. Have a great weekend!!!!

  10. This semester, my goal is to strictly study more for tests and quizzes. Last semester I did not study properly for a few tests and it showed up on my grade. I will conquer this goal by using different tactics to study such as looking over notes and quizzing myself more. I believe I can improve this semester by just changing the way I study.

  11. This year I hope to become more of an effective studier. I constantly procrastinate and post-pone homework, web posts, and even Science in the News. I will make sure to learn how to study with efficiency and determination. This year I will be better.

  12. My goal this year is to manage my time better. this year i will choose to study a lot more for the test and a lot earlier. also instead of looking at quizlet i ill make my own quizlet and rewrite my notes ahead of time to help study. i will not do my home work at school, i will do it a head of time and come to class prepared to ask questions.

  13. This semester’s goal is to introduce myself to the concept of learning without constraints, whether anxiety or procrastination, or both. I aim to become a better student not driven by GPA or status, but my own personal goals of being the best I can be. I know that sounds cheesy, but I truly believe I will be happier and learn more when I fully dive into my studies with this clear mindset. Another hope of mine is that this clas can be the springboard in which I will further develop my early study habits and planning on. Thank you for reading this!!

  14. My goal for this semester is not to only get a 75 but to learn how to study better and more efficient so I remember the things I learned, last night weeks I didn’t put enough time in studying and it did not pay off in the long run… this nine weeks and next weeks I will try my best to succeed and pass with a better knowledge of chemistry

  15. My goal for this semester is to make a better grade than last semester and to get an A. I start doing worse as the 9 weeks go on usually so i should change that by not procrastination and focusing on my priorities.

  16. My goal for this semester is to improve my study skills. I am going to rework problems even if I think I am completely comfortable with the topic so that I can be fully prepared for the tests. I am doing this so I can work problems on the test faster since I haven’t been able to finish all of my tests. Also another goal I am going to set is to not fall into “senioitis”. Though I procrastinated a lot last semester, I am set on making sure I finish all of my labs before the due date. That also includes studying for tests and finishing my homework’s. I am excited for my last semester of high school and I’m glad that I can finish it with physics

  17. My biggest goal for this semester is to bring my average up. My average was fine last semester but I had many opportunities to bring it up that I failed to take advantage of. My biggest mistake was not using the study methods that were recommended to us. If I put more effort into studying by solving problems and writing everything out instead of just simply reading over information my average will definitely rise.

  18. Last semester was tough with labs and test. This year I will try my best to succeed in chemistry by studying harder and more ahead of time. Also planning on how I will work labs and other theories to help solve the problem. I will also stay on top of homework and try to strive and look for more ways to better my grades and my learning in chemistry

  19. My goal this semester is to not stress and worry about things I cannot fix or change. A lot of the time, I would stress myself out before a test or a quiz, and I’ve learned it’s not worth all of the anxiety over one little thing. I’ve also learned that if you stress too much over something you are basically putting that amount of stress or anxiety on yourself twice. I can stop myself from doing this by doing the absolute best I can and not stressing over the little things.

  20. My goal is to be more outspoken in class abs not be so careless. I plan to do this by not just waiting on others to answer the questions but for me to actually speak for myself and on my homework not spend an hour on a 30 min assignment I want to finish it faster and use and take better notes so I don’t have such hat times studying.

  21. My goal for this semester is to miss no assignments, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem. This includes any extra credit. Steps that I will take to achieve this is to stop procrastinating. When I procrastinate, I give myself no time to do assignments. As a result, I do the bear minimum, I intend to set reminders and write down any and all assignments for not just this class, but all classes.

  22. My goal this semester is to except the fact that failure is okay. Throughout the last semester I learned that I’m not the best at chemistry, that’s just how I was created. Knowing this about myself gives me the assurance that things can get better as long as I put effort in. Which is what I think I struggled with a little bit in the past. I wouldn’t try as hard as I could have and when it got to the end I was basically racing for time and grades. I hope to also do better on time management skills. Not just for everyday things like studying but also notes and tests taking. I feel as if I put more time and thought into my studying that I will do better in the long run. In the past I would look at the notes and rewrite things, but I never was actually studying and memorizing the information I was looking at, which is one of the things I learned from watching Brain Games yesterday. Overall I plan to actually focus in when studying without distractions, not near myself up when I don’t get the “A” that I wanted, and put in more effort.

  23. My goal this semester is not to wait till the night before to begin studying for a test or a quiz for the next day. I plan to study farther ahead of time for the tests and quizzes. My other goal is to try to keep a high B in your class for this semester.

  24. My goal this semester is to turn in all assignments on time. I am going to write all assignments down for the week and try and do most of them at the beginning of the week.

  25. My goal this semester is to turn in all assignments on time. I am going to write all assignments down for the week and try and do most of them at the beginning of the week.

  26. My goal is to get a B or higher in your class. I need to do all of my homework in advance and be aware of all assignments before they are due.

  27. My goal this semester is to not procrastinate and make better grades on tests and lab reports. To do this, I am going to study days ahead in advance for tests, not just the night before, and make sure I am doing the lab reports right by looking back at instruction sheets. Another goal is to have my web posts done each week and not to forget to do them like I have before. I forgot this weekend so this is late and I don’t want that to happen again.

  28. This week so far I rate myself a 4/5. I really liked learning about how our brain works and how we may think we can do multiple things at once, but in reality we cannot. I think it is interesting learning about the founders and the theories and how Marie Ann painted all of the experiments. It is cool to see the history side of Chemistry!
