Hon Chemistry 8-30-18 Conversion Factors, Pt. 2

HON CHEMISTRY: Great job with our start on using conversion factors to work more advanced conversions! It’s good to able to convert from one unit to another, but can you use that info to solve a real world problem?

Remember, this isn’t just about getting an answer – some of you can do that in your head. This is about being able to convert from one unit to another using the Q-formula. (And yes, you have to do it that way!). Now go forth and conquer!

  1. I rate myself at a 2/5 this week. The two quizzes we took I did not do good on, but I did better on the second one than the first one.

  2. This week I rate myself a 3.5/5. I remembered the Q formula and SI system pretty well but made some careless mistakes on the quizzes. I hope to do a little better next week!

  3. I rate myself a 4/5 this week because I did good on the two quizzes, but the conversion factors were a little tough at the beginning of the week. Throughout the week, I worked harder on the conversion factors, and how to analyze the word problems. As well, I tried to concentrate on how to figure out which numbers in the word problems were used in the conversion factors. Overall, I feel pretty good about the week, but I am going to work harder on the calculations.

  4. I rate myself a 3/5 for this week. I didn’t do very well on the first SI System quiz, but I did much better on the second. Conversion factors and the Q formula slightly confused me at first, but the more I practice, the easier it becomes!

  5. I would rate myself at 3/5 this week. Coming back from Victory Ranch was rough but I pushed through it. I didn’t do terrible on the first quiz we took but I need to work on making sure I understand what I’m being asked to do and reading questions carefully. The second quiz was much better and I feel like it will stick with me this time.

  6. This week I rate myself a 3/5. I was able to improve my grade on the SI units quiz, but I need more more practice on conversions and using the Q formula. I think doing more problems will help improve my technique.

  7. I rate myself a 3/5 this week because I didn’t do too well on the SI unit quizzes. I studied the material for several days ahead of the quiz and thought I was better prepared than what my grade actually was. I think applying myself more to what we are learning will help me in the future.
