Hon Chemistry 8-29-18 Conversion Factors

HON CHEMISTRY: So you can estimate out how fast you can drive in at least one parking lot in Guatemala – but can you show me how you solved the problem? Can I trust the validity of your work?

Good job on remembering how to use conversion factors! Remember, this isn’t just about getting an answer – some of you can do that in your head. This is about being able to convert from one unit to another using the Q-formula. (And yes, you have to do it that way!)

I posted a slightly different lesson from last year below – I turned on the mic today, but forgot to turn on the receiver!

  1. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I remember how to do the Q formula, and the more I study the SI Units, the more I recall. Rounding and Scientific Notation is coming back to me pretty well, and I’m doing fine with Sig Figs, as long as I remember the rules. I feel confident about the quiz tomorrow! I copied the homework down wrong last night, so I missed a few problems. But other than that mishap, this week has been good!

  2. this week I rate myself a 3/5. I feel like this week I am really starting to remember all of the things we are reviewing from physical science. The one thing I really need to study are the rules for adding and subtracting sig figs, and the Q formula. but overall this has been a really great week!
