Chemistry 1-25-18 Applications of Radioactivity

CHEMISTRY: Radioactive isotopes all around! Did you ever dream there were so many applications of radioactivity? Thanks for the great job on adding to the lecture! This is a pic of a test used to check on blood flow through the heart during a stress test. Fun, huh!? Click on the link below the pic to learn more from Cedars-Sinai hospital.

Here’s the lecture from today – applications of radioactive isotopes. We’ll finish more applications and then fission and fusion on Monday. Have you checked out the Chapter 21 Stuff to Know & Study Suggestions sheet? Check out the Test Info tab!

IMPORTANT: Don’t forget about the Half Life lab! Data is due when? Where? check the syllabus for info!

  1. I give myself a 3/5. I didn’t understand the entire lesson at first, but as the week went on I started to grasp it better. The homework assignments were tough at first as well, but after we went over them in class again, they were much easier to complete.

  2. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I understood the material but did struggle with the homework somewhat. I hope to further understand this lesson so I can do well on the test. Over the weekend I realize that I need to go relearn some of the past lessons.

  3. the Problems this week were very challenging at first but after practicing and doing my homework I really felt like I understand them. Hopefully that carries over to the test next week

  4. This week in chemistry I rate myself a 3/5. I struggled to understand the stuff we went over in class but the homework helped me understand it more.

  5. This week I rate myself a solid 3.5/5. While the problems were easy to catch onto and I usually got the problems correct, it was unnerving to be able to write and work problems in my own way. It kinda felt like learning to walk again, but I’m glad that at least my efforts are showing results.

  6. chemistry this week was great! i understood all of the material and took very organized notes. i stayed on top of the homework and material. im not looking forward to the lab but i have to get it done! looking forward to another productive week in chem!

  7. This week in chemistry I rate myself a 3/5 because I completed all but one homework. This year I am taking taking notes very well. I am doing well with learning about radioactivity.

  8. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week because even tho I missed a day I was still able to catch up on what was going on in class and able to complete my homework with ease.

  9. This week I rate myself a 4/5 because I have done well on the homework this week and I felt like I understood the lesson.

  10. We had a pretty short and light week in Physics this week. We took our test on Monday and I think I did decently well hopefully. We had our lightbulb drop project the next day and after the second try mine successfully worked. I struggled a little the first time but quickly overcame it. We watched a very interesting video about the physics of bombs and I loved it. We have part of our physics car project due Monday that I will be working on over the weekend!

  11. I would rate myself a 5/5 this week because I actually understand the material very well. I turned in all of my homework and makeup work on time, and I think I did pretty well on all of it.

  12. This week I felt like I began to get the chemical equations and half life problems more than I did at the beginning of the week. I may still struggle with the harder ones so I’ll prepare for that as I’m going into test week

  13. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. I did not understand the half- life problems at first. I have been practicing the problems and I am starting to work them out easier.

  14. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I did good in class, I listened and took good notes. I got better at the problems as we learned them.

  15. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I started out not completely understanding half life and everything by the more we have worked on it and practiced the more I am understanding it. I’m also not studying as much on my own as I need to which is definitely not good and not staying on my goal of doing better than last semester and staying on top of things. Hopefully next week I’ll do better!!

  16. I would rate myself a 3/5 for this week! I had a little trouble doing the half life problems but I think I’m starting to understand!

  17. I rate myself a 3/5 for the week. I feel like I should have practiced more though. Next week I need to work more on showing work and using formulas.

  18. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I was a bit lost when it came to half-life problems, but my class mates helped a lot to understand and revise my notes.

  19. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I have started to understand more about the lessons. I did start to get kind of confused on half-life but after doing the practice problems I think I have started to understand it more.

  20. I rate myself a 3/5 this week! Some of the problems were a bit challenging to understand, especially the half-life problems. But most were pretty simple to work overall. I think I’ll do well if I keep it up.

  21. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I took very good notes, kept up with homework and understood most of the lesson. However, there were a few problems that I found challenging and I messed up someone’s on the type of particle and putting the numbers in the correct place. Looking forward to another great week in chemistry!

  22. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I took good notes but I did not understand how to do some of the half life problems. Once we went over them in class Wednesday I understood how to do them a lot better than I had the night before when doing the homework.

  23. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I took good notes and completed the homework. I thought the half-life problems were hard at first but I’m starting to understand them.

  24. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. That is because I didn’t really understand the half life problems until Thursday and it affected my homework. Also, I took good notes towards the end of the week

  25. I rate myself a 4/5 I did well on homework and notes. i’m struggling a bit with half-life, but other than that I understand everything so far.

  26. having the flu this week made it a little difficult this week. it has definitely been a struggle trying to do all of my makeup work, but i’ve watched the vodcasts and everything we’ve been learning this week has been coming easily to me! i’m thankful for ms skinner giving me some extra time to do the lab.

  27. I rate myself a 4/5 I think I did a good job on all my hw and taking notes throughout the week I also think I did a good job preparing for the test

  28. I would rate myself about a 3/5 this week. I’m not so sure how I did on the test but I studied multiple nights leading up to it which I used to. It be great at doing. We didnt do too well with the lab today tho because we kept messing it up but once you got us started we were doing a lot better. I did well on all my homeworks tho and I was understanding in class Monday and Tuesday.
