Physics 12-1-17 Problems Review 2 – Machines, Work, Consv. of Energy . . .

PHYSICS: I wish I could watch you problem solving together! Here’s a head start (if you need it!) –

The first vodcast below is the review of the problems #46 – crate pulled up the incline from the machines homework and #47 – ski acrobat from chapter 5. Below that are the problems #22 – circus monkey on the incline, #21 – diver steps off a diving board, and #46 – a skier is pulled up a slope.

  1. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week. I did very well with the first night of problems and concepts, but I struggled a little bit with the tougher problems. Thankfully, the work days have helped me correct my mistakes and figure out what I am doing wrong. Now I am fairly confident working all kinds of work problems going forward.

  2. This week in Physics I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 stars. I have been working hard on solving the problems this week, and I’ve made sure that I understand all of the concepts. When I first started working the problems, I had a hard time solving them because I had a hard time grasping the concepts. Understanding the concepts this week has been a struggle for me, but it’s getting better as I go over my notes and work more problems. I’m going to be sure to watch the vodcasts that go over the problems this weekend to prepare for our test next week!

  3. I would rate myself a 4 out of 5 this week because I am actually growing in learning how to apply concepts. At first, I just know how to work problems and never thought about why it works. The why is the concept, and that has been my struggle. I am working on knowing the why of a problem, and I think that the problems that we have been working in class are helping me with this. I am paying more attention to knowing why I am able to work a problem the way that I can. This chapter is an excellent chapter for me to grow in this because it will be beneficial in the long run.

  4. This week in physics has been very odd since Ms. Skinner has not been here most of the week! We learned as much as we could the first two days and then were sent out on our own for the last three. We did far better than I expected while we were figuring out the problems for ourselves! We did a whole ton of problems in the last half of the week I think I am doing very well on the math so far but I need to make sure I still understand the conceptual part of it. Our last test of the semester is next Friday!
