Chemistry 11-7-17 Binary Molecular Formulas

CHEMISTRY: Do you feel like you have letter and numbers swimming in your eyes? This is one of those times that paying attention to details is super, super important! Here’s the lecture from today on writing formulas and names for binary molecular compounds. Part of it’s really similar to what you learned to do last week for ionic compounds, but another part is totally different. Details!!

Make sure you keep everything straight. Do something that will organize all the information for you, so you won’t get confused. Also, don’t forget the lists you have to memorize – it’s getting larger and larger!! And practice, practice, practice!!!

Need extra practice? Help session tomorrow morning, 7:20ish A.M.

  15. Another week, another series of days spent juggling keeping up in chemistry, studying my lines for the play, and keeping up with all my other classes. I’ve done wildly well this week though it’s been a busy one. I’d give myself a 5 out of 5 this week for keeping up and not stressing over tests and quizzes. However, I feel that these chemical formulas are going to nip me in the bud sooner or later.

  16. I rate myself a 5/5 this week I think I did a good job memorizing the ions and all the stuff for the pre test and I’ve taken good notes all week

  17. I rate myself a 2/5 for this week. I did terrible on my memorization and still didn’t understand. Need to find a new method to study. Am having lots of trouble with the numbers and non direct element abbreviations

  18. I would say this chapter is my favorite! I actually really enjoy writing formulas, and I was well prepared for the polyatomic quiz! The only thing i’m really struggling on is the prefixes, so that’s my main focus point to prepare for the pre-test next week. Overall I would rate myself a 4/5 for the week.

  19. This week in chemistry I would rate myself a 2/5 i did not do my best on polyatomic ion quizzes. Hopefully will do better on pre test tuesday.

  20. I rate myself 4/5 this week. I feel like I’m really starting to understand the notes and formulas. I just need to make sure I memorize everything for the test

  21. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week I did well on both polyatomic ion quizzes and feel like I did well on taking notes.

  22. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I feel like I triumphed at taking notes and completing my homework; however, I feel like I could have studied more for the polyatomic ions quiz.
