Chemistry 9-26-17 A Look at Hand Drawn Graphs

CHEMISTRY: Were you happy with your hand drawn graph? Here’s the very short review today of good and some not so good graphs.

HOMEWORK INFO: For tonight (Tuesday), make your final copy of your hand drawn graph. Also, answer questions A – I in a Word or Google doc. (You were going to have time in class tomorrow, BUT we’re going to probably spend most of the time working on the test.)

Speaking of the first graph – be careful with your hand drawn graph! Watch this vodcast for good and bad examples. Carefully review the instructions on how to draw them. Common mistakes – switching independent and dependent variables, line not a best fit curve, graph too small, forgetting to label the axis, the scale on an axis not consistent.

Super important – when you scan your hand drawn graph to insert it into your Word or Google doc, remember that you have to scan it as an JPEG image and NOT a PDF this time! If you are using an app to scan, you’ll probably need to change the settings to scan as an image.

And finally – NEATNESS is very important all the way through this assignment!!

  1. I would rate this week a 3 out of 5. Mainly because of the graphing hand drawings was a struggle for me, I didn’t know where to start and the example that was on How To Construct a Line Graph On Paper made me more confusing about the Lab. Graphing isn’t difficult for me.

  2. I would rate myself a 4 out of 5 this week. I did well on graphing on excel but I struggled on graphing on paper. My lines were not straight enough or my graph didn’t take up the entire page.

  3. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I struggled a little with the instructions for the graphing exercises but all in all it was easy to understand how to graph as long as I follow instructions carefully.
