Physics 9-22-17 Intro to Vectors

PHYSICS – Hey guys, great job today on the intro to vectors – graphical vector addition, resultants, and the like. Have you done anything like this before? We’ll spend Monday practicing adding vectors graphically. Great start today! Don’t forget your protractor and graph paper!

  1. This week in Physics, I would rate myself a three out of five stars. We spent most of the week learning how to use capstone and sparkvue, and by Thursday I feel like I finally got the hang of it! I think that I prefer Capstone now that I have played with both 🙂 I like how we can change the program to do exactly what we want for our experiment. My favorite part about this week was when we went out to the parking lot and “demoed” how opposite vectors cancel each other out. I can’t wait to see what next chapter holds!

  2. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I enjoyed setting the sparkvue and capstone stuff up and both were fairly easy to understand. Capstone was a little tricky at first but once I figured it out it was a breeze. It was cool to use since you could literally do anything you wanted with it. I did not enjoy risking my life for physics on Thursday but it made for a cool video and a good example of how vectors work.

  3. This week I would rate myself a 4/5 for this week. Sparkvue and Capstone was a little confusing at first but once we figured out the program it was actually simple. It was really cool to use the programs and be able to design our own lab and I feel like it can be extremely useful. Our experiment was super cool and interesting when Matthew threw the football and it basically dropped straight down. We introduced vectors today and I can tell they might get difficult but can be learned with lots of practice.

  4. This week I rate myself a 4 out of 5. The capstone lab was tricky on Tuesday. It took my group a little while to get the hang of using it. After we figured out how to work it, capstone was really interesting. The lab on Thursday was crazy to say the least. It was a little nerve racking to be driving that fast in such a short amount of time but the video demonstrating vectors canceling was worth it. I have a feeling I’m going to have a little trouble figuring out vectors but I know I’ll figure it out.

  5. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week because I feel like I understood how to use capstone well. A struggle of this week was when I was using sparkvue the lab crashed and we had to restart. A triumph of this week would be getting to know how to work capstone and getting the labs done.

  6. This week in physics has been exciting. We started out slow by just updating software on the computers, but then we started doing the sparkview and capstone labs. Those labs were alright, but not nearly as exciting as the experiment we did outside. I don’t know if I have ever been in the bed of a truck going 47 mph. I would have to give myself a 4/5 this week because I feel like I understand capstone and I feel like vectors are already clicking in my head. I did have one struggle this week and that was when our computer shut down in the middle of our sparkview lab. Thank goodness Alex and I had a study hall the next period so we could come back and finish it. This week was fun and I’m already looking forward to next week.
