Chemistry 9-5-17 Conversion Factors

CHEMISTRY: Great job with our start on using conversion factors to work problems! Hopefully this was a review from your earlier academic life. We’ll crank it up a notch tomorrow!! 😉

Remember, this isn’t just about getting an answer – some of you can do that in your head. This is about being able to convert from one unit to another using the Q-formula. (And yes, you have to do it that way!)

Make sure you practice using your notes tonight, it’ll help you remember the steps we followed today in class!

If you need more practice on these or other problems – HELP SESSION tomorrow morning, Wednesday, 7:20ish A.M.

  1. I would rate myself 4/5 this week because I handled all of my assignments and turned it in on time. I also showed my work on all of my conversions, and I completed all of my homework with few mistakes.

  2. I rate myself a 4/5 this week in chemistry. I pretty much understood everything that you taught this week. Doing the homework really helped me understand it better.

  3. this week I rate myself a 3/5. I feel like I knew what I was doing in the lab today. One struggle I had was time management with the lab.

  4. I had an okay week but I do need to work on freaking out. I would like to ask a question about class and I hope you don’t have amnesia when you read this but is it possible that chemistry class might change on how we perform work like working labs in different ways we haven’t done before and if so when will these changes occur because part of the reasons I freak out easily in your class is because of how different it works than other classes. It isn’t a bad thing it’s just hard for me to get used to this and I of course mean no disrespect to you and I will do my best in class for you have a nice weekend.

  5. I rate my self a 3/5 I feel like I did good on the lab today except I didn’t do well with getting all the information written down fast enough so it messed up our time management

  6. I rate my self a 4/5 this week. I have to work on putting all the formulas and work on my papers and remembering the formulas

  7. This week I rate myself a 3/5. I kinda struggled with the conversions but i understand now and the lab thursday was kinda confusing but I think we still did good.

  8. This week I rate myself a 4/5. I am starting to understand conversions better now, the Q formula is helping a lot. Our whole class worked really well together on the lab Thursday, it was difficult but I think we all got it.

  9. This week I struggled with remembering that a conversion from millimeters to centimeters is different than one that’s millimeters squared to centimeter squared

  10. I rate myself a 3/5 this week because while I did moderately well on the homework, I do need to work on working well with other people during labs and I need to practice my conversion factors more.
