  1. are any two blocks the same size (length height and width) that are even in different colors or are they all different??

  2. Ok so I assured my density.
    I had a PAPER WHITE block and I got 0.583g/cm3.
    I’d recommend we set a due date like. Now.

    • Could you show us your math.
      I believe I was right because I picked up all the colors of blocks and mine seemed the lightest.

  3. The density of my milky white block is 0.9078 g/cm^3. Someone wanna come check if I did my sig figs correctly? idk if I did it absolutely right.

  4. Black block= Epsilon?
    Length- 12.01cm
    Width- 4.01cm
    Height- 1.01cm

    V=lwh
    V=(12.01cm)(4.01cm)(1.01cm)
    V=48.6cm^3

    D=m/V
    D=65.82g/48.6cm^3
    D=1.35g/cm^3

    %error =( E-A/ A)(100)
    %error= {(1.35g/cm^3 – 1.42g/cm^3) / 1.42g/cm^3}{100}
    %error = -4.93%

  5. So here’s my measurements I got from using the ruler.
    Length = 8.71 cm, Width = 4.07cm, and Height = 1.86cm. I multiplied them together and got 65.9cm3.
    When I measured the block on the balance I got 38.438g.
    So I took 38.438g and divided it by 65.9 cm3 and got 0.583 g/cm3

    • Ok yeah I forgot percent of error. I think paper white = Alpha so I’m using that one.
      %E = (E – A/ A)(100)
      %E = (0.583 – 0.541)(100)
      %E = (0.042)(100)
      %E = 4.2%

  6. Don’t forget to estimate a place more than the smallest marks on your ruler (hundredths place)!!! (thousandths place for balance)

  7. okay so i have the black block and i got:
    V= 7.67 cm x 8.32 cm x 1.29 cm
    V= 82.320576 cm^3
    V= 82.3 cm^3

    m= 78.842 g

    D= 78.42 g / 82.3 cm^3
    D= 0.957982989 g/cm^3
    D= 0.956 g/cm^3

    % error= 0.957 g/cm^3 – 0.967 g/cm^3 / 0.967 g/cm^3 (x 100)
    % error= -1.034126163 g/cm^3
    % error= -1.03 g/cm^3

  8. To grays: I have measured my length to be 10.16 cm, my width to be 5.37 cm, and my height to be 1.28 cm. I measured my block on the balanced and concluded it is 95.145 g. Volume is length times width times height. I multiplied the length, width, and height and got 69.8 cm cubed. The equation for density is D= m divided by V. When you plug the data in, it is D = 99.145 g divided by 69.8 cm. I plugged this into my calculator and got 1.42 g/cm cubed. I have concluded that our block is named “Epsilon”. Grays agree?

  9. I found the mass of my clear block by using my balance, and got a mass of 70.682g. I found the volume of the block by multiplying length (8.10 cm) times width (3.10cm) times height (2.38cm). Next, I divided my mass by my volume (D=M/v) to get a density of 1.18.

  10. i did my measurements completely wrong earlier!!!
    my squarish shaped paper white block’s measurements:

    l= 8.67 cm
    w= 8.16 cm
    h= 1.29 cm
    V= 91.26 cm cubed

    m= 42.238 g

    0.46 g/ cubic cm

  11. Here is the data for my Black block:

    V= l x w x h
    V= 5.87 x 11.24 x 1.22
    V= 80.5 cm^3

    m= 82.519 g

    D= m/V
    D= 82.519/80.5
    D= 1.02 g/cm^3

    I’m pretty sure the Black Block is Beta.

  12. My percent error for the black block (Beta) is:

    % error= (e-a)/(a) x 100
    % error= (1.02-0.967)/(0.967) x 100
    % error= 0.0548 x 100
    % error= 5.48%

  13. Hey guys. So I was thinking, this is pretty easy right? So maybe the info. Should be due on like Thurs. and then HJ could have the email by Mon. What do you guys say?

  14. Hey guys, hope the long weekend is going well so far! So I sent in my calculations, how I got them, and what I think they mean, but I feel like I should help more. Is there anything else I should do?

  15. Ok so my block was black and here are my measurements:

    l=9.62cm
    w= 4.70cm
    h= 2.57cm

    Then I continued to the volume formula:

    V= l x w x h
    V= 9.62cm x 4.70cm x 2.57cm
    V= 116.19998cm^3
    V= 116cm^3

    Then I measured mass on my balance:

    m= 110.432g

    So I continued to density:

    D=m/V
    D=110.432cm^2 / 116.2cm^3
    D= 0.9504g/cm^3
    This is closest to the Beta name(9.67g/cm^3). So I’m thinking Beta blocks are black

  16. Also I forgot to add the unit for my density when I sent the original measurement. My density is 1.8 g/cm^3.

    D=m/V
    D=70.682g/59.8cm^3
    D=1.8g/cm^3

  17. I’m sorry I meant to type 1.18g/cm^3 for density!

    %error= E-A/ A x100
    %error=1.18g/cm^3 – 1.17g/cm^3 / 1.17g/cm^3 x100
    %error= 0.855%

  18. My block was milky white and here are my measurement:
    LxWxH
    4.61cmx 5.59cmx 2.39cm= 61.6 cm^3

    I got the mass was 65.125 g

    D=m/V
    D=65.125g/ 61.6 cm^3= 1.06 g/cm^3

    % of error= E-A/A x100
    % of error= 1.06-1.17/1.17 x100 =-9.40%

    So I think the milky white blocks may be Gamma.

    • I had the clear block:

      V=L*W*H
      V= 9.60cm*7.10cm*1.25cm
      V= 85.2cm^3

      And I got the mass to be 99.750g

      D=m/V
      D=99.750g/85.2cm^3
      D= 1.17g/cm^3

      So I’m pretty sure the clear block are Gamma

      • The Clear Blocks are Gamma.
        my measurements:
        length: 8.41cm
        width:5.61cm
        height: 1.21cm
        Volume: 57.087 921cm^3
        mass: 67.123g
        D= m÷V
        D= 67.123g ÷ 57.087 921cm^3
        D= 1.17578g/cm^3
        D= 1.18g/cm^3
        %E= [(E-A)÷A]×100
        %E= [(1.18-1.17)÷1.17]×100
        %E= 0.8%

        I think all my sig figs are correct but I can’t rely on my own mind!! 😂

  19. My measurements above were:
    l=9.60cm
    w= 7.10cm
    h=1.25cm

    My percent error is:

    % error= e-a/a *100
    % error = 1.17g/cm^3/1.17g/cm^3 (Gamma)
    =0%

  20. I had a white block and the dimensions were:

    L= 14.24 cm
    W= 3.35 cm
    H= 1.29 cm

    I used the volume formula to get 61.5 cm^3 for the volume.

    V= L*W*H = (14.24 cm) * (3.35 cm) * (1.29 cm) = 61.5 cm^3

    I massed the block and got a mass of 31.910 g.

    V= 61.5 cm^3
    M= 31.910 g

    I used the density formula to get 0.520 g/cm^3 for the block’s density.

    D= M / V = (31.910 g) / (61.5 cm^3) = 0.520 g/cm^3

    D= 0.520 g/cm^3

    So I believe the paper white blocks are Alpha.

    So using the percent error formula I found my percent error for the Alpha block to be: -3.88%

    Percent error = Experimental – Accepted / Accepted * 100
    Percent error = (0.520 g/cm^3) – (0.541 g/cm^3) / (0.541 g/cm^3) * 100
    Percent error = -3.88%

  21. Here are my final measurements and calculations so Hope Joy can have a more organized set of data to turn in. Sorry for so many comments!

    Measurements:
    Mass=70.682g
    Length=8.10cm
    Width=3.10cm
    Height=2.38cm

    Calculations:
    V=lwh
    V=(8.10cm)(3.10cm)(2.38cm)
    V=59.8cm^3

    D=m/V
    D=70.682g/59.8cm^3
    D=1.18g/cm^3

    %error=experimental-accepted/accepted
    %error=1.18g/cm^3 – 1.17g/cm^3 / 1.17g/cm^3
    %error=0.855%

  22. Final Calculations for HJ:

    My block is the color gray.

    l=10.16 cm
    w=5.37 cm
    h=1.28 cm
    m=95.145 g

    V= l x w x h
    V= 10.16cm x 5.37cm x 1.28cm
    V= 69.836cm^3

    D=m/V
    D= 99.145g/69.836cm^3
    D= 1.42g/cm^3.

    Based on my calculations, my block is named “Epsilon” because the density of Epsilon is 1.42g/cm^3 and I got 1.42g/cm^3 in my calculations.

    %error=E-A/A
    %error=1.42g/cm^3-1.42g/cm^3 / 1.42g/cm^3
    %error= 0%

  23. just completely disregard my previous comments bc i retyped it here

    paper white block measurements:

    l= 8.67 cm
    w= 8.16 cm
    h= 1.29 cm
    V= lwh
    V= (8.67cm)(8.16cm)(1.29cm)
    V= 91.26 cm cubed

    m= 42.238 g

    D= m/V
    D= 42.238 g/ 91.26 cm cubed
    D= 0.46 g/ cubic cm

    i think paper white is Alpha:
    %error= (E-A)/A x 100
    %error= (0.46 g/cm^3 – 0.541 g/cm^3) / 0.541 g/cm^3 x 100
    %error= 15%

    it’d be really convenient if you guys could put all the important info in one comment or maybe in comments that are right next to each other!!!!!!!!!!! im going to be paying the most attention to the last comments you guys have.

  24. Final Measurements for HJ:

    % error= -1.03 g/cm^3

  26. I agree with Sammy that the gray block is Epsilon.
    gray block measurement:
    l= 6.69 cm
    w= 2.24 cm
    h= 4.14 cm
    V= lwh
    V= (6.69 cm)(2.24 cm)(4.14 cm)
    V= 62.040384 cm^3 or 62.0 cm^3

    m= 97.366 g

    D= m/V
    D= 97.366 g/62.040384 cm^3
    D= 1.56939712 g/cm^3 or 1.57 g/cm^3

    This density is closest to Epsilon with a percentage error of 10.6%

    % error= (e-a)/a x 100
    % error= (1.57 g/cm^3 – 1.42 g/cm^3)/1.42 g/cm^3 x 100
    % error= 10.56338% or 10.6%

  27. Final measurements for SK:
    Grey box= epsilon

    w= 6.40 cm
    h= 1.19 cm
    V= l x w x h
    V= 7.00 cm x 6.40 cm x 1.19 cm
    V= 53.3 cm^3
    m= 77.90 g
    D= m/V
    D= 77.90 g/ 53.3 cm^3
    D= 1.45 g/cm^3
    % error = E- A/ A x 100
    % error = 1.45 g/ cm^3 – 1.42 g/ cm^3 / 1.42 g/cm^3 x100
    % error = 2.11 %

  28. Final Measurements!

    milky white block= delta

    l= 6.60 cm
    w= 3.95 cm
    h= 2.55 cm
    m= 59.583 g

    V= l x w x h
    V= 6.60 cm x 3.95 cm x 2.55 cm
    V= 66.5 cm^3

    D= m/V

    %E= (0.896 g/cm^3 -0.910 g/cm^3) / 0.910 g/cm^3 x 100
    %E= -1.54%

  29. Here is the data for the black block:

    V = l x w x h
    V = 5.87 cm x 11.24 cm x 1.22 cm
    V= 80.5 cm^3

    m = 82.519 g

    D = m / V
    D = 82.519 g / 80.5 cm^3
    D = 1.02 g / cm^3

    % error = (e-a) / (a) x 100
    % error = (1.02 – 0.967) / (0.967) x 100
    % error = 0.0548 x 100
    % error = 5.48 %

    I’m think that the black block falls under Beta.

  30. Out of the fifteen people that commented their data, all except two agree with this: Alpha is paper white, Beta is black, Delta is milky white, Gamma is clear, and Epsilon is gray. As of right now, that us what I’m emailing Mrs. Skinner. Any objections?
