Physics 8-24-17 Motion and Displacement

PHYSICS – What “moving” lessons from yesterday and today! Get it? “Moving”? Okay, okay, I’ll stop.

You did a great job with your own “intro to motion” – great job and great beginning to kinematics! I did, however, turn the mic off instead of on, so here’s the lecture from last year.

Let’s crank it up on the problems tomorrow!

  1. This week I rate myself a 3 out of 5. It was an interesting week. I think that I am improving on the labs. At first I was not very good at critically thinking on the labs and coming up with stuff on my own but I feel as if I improved this week. The bouncing ball lab was a good lab for me. I was a little rusty on the graphing but I got the hang of it. The velocity is a little tricky and I am having trouble with the problems. I hope that working more of them will help me improve.

  2. This week I would rate myself a 3/5 because the velocity problems are really getting the best of us as a whole class. I feel that I can improve on them with more practice problems and understanding how to it in homework. This week has been very fun as we learned and then would do a lab to apply what we learned, so it was good to put it into a real life visual.

  3. This week in Physics, I would rate myself 4 out of 5 stars. The homework problems were mostly review this week, and we had the opportunity to design labs that helped us to determine the relationship between time and distance. During the lab where we had to find the height of a bouncing ball, Ethan and I were able to apply our math skills, and we were successful on our first try! Also, the graphing exercise helped me to remember how to correctly make graphs and include them in my lab write-ups. This weekend, I will work hard to try to figure out the velocity problems on the homework.

  4. I rate myself a 3/5 this week. The graphing exercise came back to me pretty well and I already have it done except for the questions. All of the labs and activities we did this week helped me to think critically, but I still need to do a lot of work which is why I took away from my score. I did not manage my time as efficiently as I should have this week, but I will this weekend so I can get my work done.

  5. This was another interesting week in Physics! I am loving the fact that we do so many labs, they are a lot of fun. The labs we performed this week revolved around observing motion and predicting results with graphs. Millie and I were able to knock out the ball drop lab on our first try thanks to our tedious efforts to be as accurate as possible. So far, I have been doing pretty great on the labs; I did good in the tumble buggie labs as well. The intimidating homework this weekend looks like it will be challenging to me because of how complex the motion problems can get, but I will try my best!

  6. This week in physics I would rate myself a 3/5. This week was full of labs and activities and they really helped me understand the stuff we were going over in class. I feel like I am learning the stuff we’re doing in class, but I don’t know if I have mastered it yet. I think me and my group did very well on the bouncing ball lab because we hit the target dead center. Overall I feel like it was a good week and can’t wait to start next week.
