Hon Chemistry 4-25-17 Percent Yield

HON CHEMISTRY: So are you a cookie dough lover? Not me – I like my cookies crispy!

Here’s the last of the applications of stoichiometry problems – percent yield. Lots easier that limiting reactants I think. You realize what we’ve done… we’ve finished the chapter!!

Not only that, did you get a heads up on designing the percent yield of magnesium oxide lab for tomorrow? 😉

  1. This week I would rate myself a 2/5. I achieved in understanding a lot of the material this week, and am thankful that I learned the Q Formila a while ago, or else I would be struggling. I struggled his week in getting back my test and realizing I didn’t do too well. I will study more next time.

  2. What a relief–the Project is OVER!!! I am still in the mentality that I have to hurry home and work on it, but I don’t! 🙂 Despite finally finishing that, I am struggling with the new material. Most of the trouble I am having is with the percent yield and finding the limiting reactant. Help session tomorrow morning?

  3. I rate myself a 4 out of 5 stars for this week. Though some of the concepts about light and color were fairly easy for me to understand, I am struggling with the mirror concepts and some of the homework. All of the various diagrams for the types of mirrors made sense when you explained them, but I am definitely going to have to review them this weekend to make sure that I have everything straight in my brain. Learning about all of these concepts is so fun to me because it’s things that you see in real life all the time but often don’t know how to explain! Color is probably my favorite thing we have learned about so far because I’ve never thought about color in a physics setting. It’s crazy to think that the three primary colors are actually red, blue, and green! I can’t wait to learn more about color tomorrow.

  4. This week has been very long to me, probably from lack of sleep and many hours of hard work on the Project, but I am very thankful that it is done with and that I feel pretty confident in what I turned in. Also, so far I’m feeling pretty good about stoichiometry, except some of the limiting reactant problems are harder though I think I know the concept or am close. Hopefully after going over some of the homework problems will help me to understand it better and be ready for the test on Monday 🙂

  5. This week I would rate myself a 2/5 stars. Very successful day when I turned in the project, but then I realized I didn’t really understand this chapter. I don’t really understand the calculations that well. I will be studying and practicing a lot for the test on monday! Maybe I can get some sleep too 🙂

  6. This week, I’d rate myself 2/5 stars. I thought I understood this chapter fairly well, because it is mostly math and that’s usually what I am best at. However, once I turned in the project and I was able to really focus on the chapter, I realized I was really struggling with some of the problems. I honestly can’t even imagine how the discussion and multiple choice will go since I don’t have the math down yet.

  7. I would rate myself 2/5 stars. I feel very relieved that the project is over, but I am struggling with what we are learning.

  8. This week in chemistry I would rate myself a 2/5. I procrastinated way to long and should have gotten started on my project weeks earlier. Even though I was rushed in time during my project I still feel confident that I have the right information.

  9. This week in chemistry I would rate myself a 3/5 stars. I am relieved that the project is over, but I am struggling with some of the harder problems we worked for homework last night. I am worried about the discussion and the multiple choice. I am not ready to be studying all weekend.

  10. I would rate this week a 3/5 because we finished the chemistry project. I was able to finish my lab report in one night at a reasonable hour. Also I went to the help session today, but I’m worried about the test Monday.

  11. This week in Chemsitry, I would rate myself a 4.5/5 stars. I worked really hard on my project and feel good about it! We had the opportunity to retake the Chapter 6 test today and I am so glad I did! I feel like I prepared really well and learned how to study better! This week was super tough, but I feel like it was also very successful!!

  12. This week in Chemistry, I would rate myself a 3/5 stars. The project is over, and I am really glad! I have been practicing stoichiometry, and I am getting better at working the problems, but I will need more practice before the test on Monday. I went to the help session this morning, and I felt like I understood the problems that we did today. I have already made a need-to-know sheet for the test, and I plan on going over the conceptual things that might be test this weekend.

  13. This week I rate myself a 3/5. I wasn’t here for 2 days and all of our class days were short, but I did really understand the material. I felt like the material we learned in class made a lot of sense. The homework I thought was pretty easy as well. When I did the right problems I had no trouble at all. The low rating comes from my lack of diligence in some assignments and I am a bit frazzled trying to complete some others, but overall, it has been a good week.

  14. This week in chemistry was a struggle I was supper stressed and waited way to long to start it. Overall I rate myself a 2/5 for the week.

  15. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I’m doing pretty well with the new lessons, but I’m a little nervous for the test since I missed two days this week.

  16. This week in Chemistry, I would rate myself a 5/5. I am relieved that I finished the project in time. I was satisfied with my test grade and did not feel the need to retake it.

  17. This week in chemistry I would rate myself 4/5 stars. Like everyone else, I am very relieved to have the project finished, and I believe I did well on it. Also, I am not dreading our test on Monday because I understand how to work the math problems and feel like I will do well since math equations are my strength in chemistry.

  18. This week I would rate myself a 1.5/5 stars. I really was not prepared this week. I learned that I need to stop procrastinating and prepare for things in the future better. Because of lack of sleep, I had a bit of trouble paying attention. I don’t think I will have trouble on the test, but I will need to prepare.

  19. This week I would rate myself 2/5 stars. I am very glad that chemistry project is done and turned it, and I think I did pretty well on it! However, I am struggling with the new chapter a little. I am going to have to study a lot more and practice some equations before the test on Monday. Nevertheless, this was a pretty good week, and I look forward to next week!

  20. I rate myself a 3/5 stars because I finished the project with minimal stress. I managed my time wisely and made finishing the project easier on myself. I can’t believe I actually finished it!! I don’t understand this chapter at all though, I thought I did good on the homework but I actually did not. I will do several practice problems this weekend and memorize my vocab so hopefully I can succeed on the test Monday.

  21. This week I would rate myself 2/5 stars. I had thought all this time that I had been working ahead on this project, but that was not the case. Unfortunately, I had the mentality “check the paper only for the items, not the guidelines.” This did not help me on the last night, when I finally did check the guidelines. This was not a wise decision because I eventually had to stay up a long time to catch up to all the guidelines’ requirements. This project thus drained me, but was my fault because of accidental procrastination. So, my week was rated such a low score because I accidentally procrastinated on my project, which caused me to become very guilty and unrested.
