Hon Chemistry 2-21-17 Lewis Structure Practice

HON CHEMISTRY: More fun playing with dots!! Here’s one last look at Lewis structures, multiple bonds, and resonance before we move on to ionic bonding. Don’t forget CONS!!

  1. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I did really well on my test, so I figured studying a lot in advance pays off. I am understanding lewis structures pretty well, but sometimes the ions confuse me. I did not understand the molecular geometry until today when we went over it but now I understand. I would say it has been a pretty good week in chemistry 🙂

  2. Even though we were only in class for 2 days, I feel like I have learned and accomplished a lot! To my complete surprise, I did really well on my test!! I proved to myself that studying a few days before the test and re-watching all the vodcasts indeed works wonders! I understand what we are doing right now in class, and I even like drawing Lewis structures. Also, I feel like I’m beginning to get a grasp on molecular geometry. I am confident that, with a lot of studying and practice, I will be prepared for the upcoming test! 🙂

  3. I give myself 4/5 stars this week. I did well on my test, but I am having a hard time understanding Lewis structures.

  4. This week has been kind of crazy! I feel like we’ve done a lot this week even though we’ve haven’t been in class a lot. I’m really pleased with my test grade that I got so now I hope I can keep it up for our next test. I’m doing ok on the Lewis structures and the molview clab, which I find very interesting. I’ve been working ahead on it so that way whenever I get stuck I can ask questions without being stressed about not finishing it. Hopefully by the time I finish the lab I’ll be a pro at the Lewis structures!

  5. This week has been a good week for me in Chemistry. I did really well on my test, and I am understanding everything we are learning about. I split my studying over two days, so I only had to review the day before the test, and it worked great! Hopefully if I do the same thing for the next test, I will do well. The Clab isn’t as hard as I expected and it’s actually pretty fun to see the 3D molecules.

  6. This week in Chemistry I would rate myself a 3/5. I was pleased with my test score, so I plan on studying how I did this past time. I feel like I have improved at drawing lewis structures, but now I feel like I need to work at molecular geometry a little more. The clab was not a complicated as I thought it would be. I plan on working on it this weekend so that I won’t have to finish it all on Monday night when it is due. I am also going to look over my notes and organize them because the different types of chemical bonding are sort of running together.

  7. This week I would rate myself 3/5 stars. I am still having trouble keeping up with all my assignments, but I have improved in the area of growing as an individual learner. In other words, I am trying harder at my homework and not slacking off because “she will explain it in class.” This extra effort is becoming useful because I find that I make less mistakes, and that the homework becomes easier as well. I hope that next week I become more focused, and become better at remembering and recording assignments. I plan on improving in this area by printing out my syllabus at the beginning of the week, and checking it every night before moving on to other schoolwork.

  8. Success: I think I finally understand how to correctly draw lewis structures. When we did the clab in class I was able to understand how it works. I am behind on my notes because I was not able to write fast enough. Hopefully i will be able to complete my labs this weekend.

  9. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I’ve had a little trouble and struggled with understanding molecular geometry this week. But I believe I have done very well with Lewis structures and will contribute to practice.

  10. This week, I would rate myself 3/5 I had tennis practice and rehersal every day so I didn’t get home until late everyday. Because of this, I really struggled getting everything done even though the week was so short. I should have worked ahead while I had time last week. I’ve gotten rid of a lot of distractions so that I don’t waste time in the future!

  11. This week I’d rate myself a 4/5
I did really good on the test and that was definitely a relief. I had trouble at first with the lewis structure and molecular geometry, but I’ve definitely improved. I feel like I’m ready to take the next nine weeks head-on.

  12. I would rate myself a 4/5 stars this week. I understand the material but am having a little difficulty with Lewis structures. I’m watching the videos and webposts more. I am having difficulties with the cLAB, but it’s mostly just figuring out the website.

  13. This week I would rate myself 4.5/5 stars! Even though this week was a really short one, I feel like I have accomplished a lot. I did well on my test, which made me feel really good, and I am really understanding and enjoying Lewis structures! I am looking forward to next week!

  14. This week I would rate myself 4/5. I was happy with the lessons and I understood everything well. Also, I enjoy drawing Lewis structures. Now this weekend I need to make sure to work ahead and do my assignments in advance for next week.

  15. Throughout this week I would rate myself 4/5 stars. I am proud of my score on the test and I think I did very well. I’m catching on to Lewis structures and checking the electrons help so much. At first, I was very confused about molecular geometry but it became more clear on Friday. I am struggling with MolView but I’ve read the manual and I’m working on it! I’m looking forward to the freezing water take home lab!
