Hon Chemistry 2-15-17 Intro to Chemical Bonds & Covalent Bonding

HON CHEMISTRY: Hey guys, welcome to chemical bonds! Great job on using electronegativity to determine bond type. Make sure you add that scale and also the diatomic molecules to your “things I have to memorize for the test” list.

Pretty cool the way orbital notation allows you to see how electrons are shared, huh?!? Let’s play with dots tomorrow!

  1. This week has been pretty long and stressful. Looking back on the late-night studying for the test and the problems that I had with my lab report, I must admit that I’m glad that this week is almost over. However, I was proud of Ann-McKeel and myself in that we figured out how to handle/salvage our lab report. I am also glad that I actually started studying 2 days before the test and didn’t procrastinate (which is a pretty big accomplishment for me). I’m pretty confident that all the studying helped to improve my test results! I felt like I did a lot better on this test than some of the previous ones!

  2. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I studied in advance for the test, and I felt really good about it. Studying in advance and not procrastinating really helped me fully understand everything, since I had more time to figure it out. I’m glad to have gotten the test over with, and am ready to start a new chapter.

  3. Throughout this week I would rate myself a 4/5 stars. I studied in advance for the test and I did great on the pretest! I struggled with the questions in the lab report but I gave them my best shot. I’m excited to start a new chapter!

  4. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I feel like I most of the material on the test. However, I’m not super confident in my identification of the double unknown. So far, I understand the topics covered in this new chapter!

  5. Success: I would say this week was a success because I felt prepared for my test and I’ve managed to understand and do deeper thinking in my homework. There were a few bumps but a week as a whole it felt like I wasn’t behind trying to catch up. So far I’ve taken good notes on chapter six and hopefully I will be able to progressively understand more and more each day and not cram it the night before.

  6. Struggle and Triumph: This week has been both a struggle and a triumph for me. The main struggle was studying for the test. When studying, I didn’t feel like I was remembering anything and there was just always something I hadn’t studied yet. However, once we got the test I actually knew it, which was a triumph! I feel really good about it and hope that my grade reflects this feeling. I also struggled a little on the lab write-up, but I was able to do my best and turn it in so that is a triumph as well.

  7. I would rate myself 3/5 stars this week. I feel like I did well on my test, but I have yet to watch the vodcasts for the days I missed.

  8. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I did a good job on the test except for the memorization on the test. I did a good job going over the math and learning the formulas. I’ve also done a good job on working ahead on my lab write up and answers.

  9. I would rate myself a 2/5 because I struggled on the test. The lab this week was super cool and I enjoyed it. My triumph this week was finishing the activity we did on Friday and understanding it.
