King of the Hill Competition 2017

PHYSICS: Terrific job on the King of the Hill competition!!! I’m really proud of the work that all of you did on your cars.

It was a fierce, head to head battle with car flying all over the track, but at last the strongest car emerged victorious! Congratulations, Mary Addison, on being King of the Hill! Also, congrats to Mary Addison and Jonathan for winning the distance and speed races!

Chemistry 2-7-17 Flame Test Lab

CHEMISTRY: Wow! Great job on the flame test lab – pretty cool, huh?! It’s one of my favorite labs. Did it help you understand something about how fireworks must work?

Lab reports are due by SATURDAY midnight, saved to both Google Drive and turnitin.com as a PDF. It would be a very good idea for you to go back and check your graded labs in Evernote AND double check the lab manuscript form sheet to make sure your lab report is complete and in the correct format! I cannot stress that enough!!

Double check your data table – did you include ALL your observations? Also, what about your conclusion? Be sure an answer the objective, and explain how you used flame tests to identify an unknown. And don’t forget the questions at the end!

Hon Chemistry 2-7-17 Atomic Radii & Ionization Energy

HON CHEMISTRY: Hey guys, here’s the first lecture on periodic trends – atomic radii and ionization energy. You made some great connections today!

Don’t forget the element videos at periodicvideos.com. It will be a great reinforcement as you begin to study and complete your notes on the properties and uses of the elements with the information on the Chapter 5 Stuff to Know sheet. And you might just learn something along the way! It will be a great review as you start to prepare for the test. Wait – did I say test?!?
