Hon Chemistry 1-23-17 Chapter 4 Overview

HON CHEMISTRY: God bless as you study for the chapter 4 test! We had no audio today, so I’m posting an overview from last year.

Have you checked out the Chapter 4 Stuff to Know Sheet from Edline? Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to memorize the things you need to memorize so that you can apply them on the test. And practice, practice, practice, the problems and electron configurations. Did I mention that already?

What about applications for discussion? Photoelectric effect, spectroscopy, etc.? Another great idea for studying is to watch the videos that we watched in class – super helpful as you study for the test!! Here are some of them:
Spectrum of the Stars (overivew of the results of the spectroscopy lab you did, shows the connection between our lab on spectroscopy and how we can identify elements), Emission Spectrum of Hydrogen (how we use it to know about the energy levels in an atom), Quantum Mechanics (about the roles of Bohr, Schrodinger, Heisenberg), and also Animated Quantum Mechanics.

God bless you as you study! I’ll be praying for you!!

  1. This week, I would rate myself 3/5 stars. I actually started the lab report a few days before the due date, so I wasn’t stressed about finishing it on time, and I had time to think about the questions. However, even though I studied for a long time Monday night and looked over my notes sporadically throughout the previous week, I still don’t think that I did very well on the test. I know now that re-watching the vodcasts is key. That was the one thing that I didn’t do this time, and I regret it. Next time, I will review my notes every night and watch all of the vodcasts before the test.

  2. This week I would give my self 3/5 stars. In preparation for the tests, I did not focus well, and I did not study ahead of time either. I should’ve studied this weekend; but instead, I used my lab-write-up as something to use to procrastinate studying. Also, I did not look ahead and plan my time to study as I should have. Next time I study, I will make sure to spread out my review of each lesson to at least 3-4 days ahead of time, and I will make sure to limit the distractions in my study times and areas as well.

  3. This week so far I would give myself 3.5/5 stars. I didn’t really start studying super ahead of time for the test. However, I actually feel pretty well about the test and didn’t stress too much over it. I just hope that my grade matches my confidence! And I spaced out the lab write up so that wasn’t as stressful either. Also, I really enjoyed the triboluminescence lab and feel like I did a great job on it time wise as I usually am slower in lab.

  4. Throughout this week in chemistry, I triumphed. I was able to understand chapter 4 and study with confidence. I tried my best to not over obsess. I also enjoyed the triboluminescence lab. It was fun and interesting. I am going to continue to work hard and try my best.

  5. I have mixed feelings about this week. I majorly stressed about the test the day before, and I honestly have no clue how I did on it. However, I really enjoyed the lab this week and I am really working to stay ahead of this chapter so I don’t feel overwhelmed for the next week.

  6. This week I chemistry I’d rate myself a 4/5

The last chapter we just study was very interesting and I learned a lot more about light than I really thought there was.
The chem test felt good, but I’m not 100%.
The last lab we did was really cool. I knew about Bio-luminescence but I never knew about tribo-luminescence! This week was definitely a pr0ductive one

  7. I would rate myself a 3/5 stars this week. I believe I understood the chapter and think I did good on my test. I could have managed my time on the test a little better, but I managed it well enough. The triboluminescence lab was super neat and interesting! Making our own tables was informative and fun; considering, Dmitri Mendeleev didn’t have any references to look at like us and that he only had some observations.

  8. This week I would rate myself 3/5 stars. I did my lab write up ahead of time so I wasn’t rushing at the last minute. I also spread my studying out over two nights instead of one, which helped but not much. I’m pretty sure I didn’t do too well on the last test because I rushed at the end. I should have flipped through the test at the beginning because I didn’t see the last page until I only had 10 minutes left. Next test, I will prepare more and budget my time.

  9. This week I would give myself a 3/5 stars. I finished my lab report and turned it in Sunday night, knowing that they test was coming up. I studied a lot and looked through my notes. I looked through some of the vodcasts, but not many. I feel like I could’ve done better on the test if I watched through the vodcasts.

  10. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. Having Monday as a review day before the test really helped. I didn’t feel as unprepared for the test and felt better about it. The triboluminescence lab was fun and I feel like I learned something new and interesting. My goal is to do that lab report little bit each day so I’m not overwhelmed Saturday night.

  11. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I believe I did well in preparation for the test and am hoping for good results. I struggled a little bit in the triboluminesence lab just because it wasn’t the easiest to see the results in the pitch black

  12. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I feel pretty good about the test we took and my lab partner and I worked well together on the lab.

  13. This week I would rate myself 2/5. I felt pretty overwhelmed for the test and despite staying up late studying I don’t think I did very well on it. However, I did enjoy the triboluminescence lab and thought it was really cool. Hopefully next test I will be more prepared and have time to finish everything.

  14. This week was a very weird week, so I would rate myself 2/5 stars. I definitely did not feel like I did very well on the test. I was very confused because I hadn’t been there much. However, I really enjoyed the lab we did. It was very interesting!! Looking forward to next week!
