  1. This week I struggled with the half life problems. I had a difficult time figuring out how to solve for time or days because I did not have a good formula to solve the problems.I also kept getting mixed up with how many times to multiply the half life by. I took very thorough notes and reviewed the vodcasts which helped me. I would rate myself a 3.5/5 this week because I’m still struggling with half life problems, but i am doing great with nuclear decay. I’ve only missed a couple of nuclear decaying problems because they were careless mistakes like putting the wrong symbol, or adding when i’m supposed to be subtracting. otherwise, I really felt I learned a lot this week and I enjoyed learning all of it!

  2. Triumph: My triumph this week is that ive done all my homework. i struggled this this last semester, but ive done all of them this semester.

  3. I am very proud of myself this semester. I have done all my homework and I have (so far) grasped the concept of nuclear energy and really enjoyed it. Today I struggled with half life but I know I will get it. I really want to do well on this next test and I know that if I keep up the work I will do that.

    • Triumph: My triumph this week is that I got the hang of all of the lessons. I also fully understood the homework from the lessons and I felt I did well on it. After learning the different methods of solving the problems in the lessons this week, it made it so much easier on the homework. I felt that this week was definitely a success in chemistry.

  4. This week I did exceptionally well! I think that I was doing great with the homework and I understood what we were doing and I was able to do the problems very easily.

  5. This week in chemistry, I would rate myself a 3 or 4/5. I think I understand the Half-life formula and how to work it, and I understand what we’re learning in class. Also, I understand the nuclear decay problems, but I just need to work on memorizing the types of decays and what symbol to write for that decay.

  6. This week has been a little trying for me with the half life problems. It took me a little practice to get them right but I think I’ve got it down now. All I have to worry about now is remembering that the book uses the beta symbol for both Positron Emission and Beta Decay.

  7. I would rate myself a 5/5 this week because I have understood the homework and notes that we have taken in class. Also because I have been applying it well on the homework assignments and for preparing for the test.

  8. Failure:This week learning about different types of decay, I struggled with understanding the difference between emission and decay. Also the concept of the types of radiation having different effects and energies caused me to struggle with keeping all the information straight.
Success: When working with the new math problems involving half-life I had a easier time then expect. I grasped the new information very well and was able to not only accomplish solving the problems in class with the help of you, but also by my self when faced with the half-life problems on the homework! This gave me some confidence to face the lab this weekend with a good understanding.

  9. This week in Chemistry, I would rate myself a 5/5. I missed Tuesday due to the drug test, but I watched the vodcast and caught up with all that I missed. I understood half-life problems and how to write nuclear reactions. I thought it was cool how the decay of a nuclide determined its stability.

    • This week I would rate myself 4.5/5. I understand everything we are learning and I can work and solve the problems easily without any struggle. This is one of my favorite lessons we have learned so far.

  10. This week in chemistry I found myself a little lost up until the half-life and now I understand the stuff we learned previously in the week. I will work diligently on my take home lab this weekend and week. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week in chemistry. I did a good job with keeping up with my work this week. Ready to finish the rest of the year in chemistry off strong

  13. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I had trouble with the half life problems at first but after last nights homework I got the hang of it. I still need to work on the memorization parts of the decay problems. I learned the causes of radiation and the damage it can do on a person.

  14. this week I would rate myself a 3/5. I struggled with keeping up and staying focused. I learned about alpha, beta, and positron decay and emission and half life. I thought it was really cool. to see how alpha, beta, and gamma rays work, and what they can and cannot go through. I also saw the effect ionizing can cause on DNA and that non-ionizing is not harmful.

  15. This week I rate myself a 3/5. I took good notes over decay and looked over it, but I still struggle with decay. I need to spend more time practicing and looking over my notes. I’m doing good with the Half-life problems.

  16. This week we learned about radiation and the 4 different radioactive decays and how to calculate them. That came pretty easy to me. However, I really struggled with the half life problems, but after the homework and getting help from my peers I understood them better. As a whole I feel like this week was a success for me.

  17. This week in Chemistry i give myself a 3/5. I learned about all the different kind of decays and all about radiation and half-life problems. I succeeded at the alpha and beta problems. i struggled at the half-life problems. one thing i can work on is half-life problems and spending more time trying to figure things out then just giving up so easy.

  18. I give myself a 4 out 5 because i am doing good on the half-life problems. I took really good notes and understand almost everything. I need to continue to work on problems, so i will get them right on the test.

  19. This week i rate myself a 2/5. I did not understand this lesson. i worked all my homework and got my answer but i just forgot what i am doing. I was unable to go to the help session this week but i will try to go to the next one to figure things out.
