Hon Chemistry 12-2-16 Half-Life

HON CHEMISTRY: So what do you figure is the half-life of a banana? But I digress…. Here’s the lecture for Friday on half-life problems. Keep thinking these problems through – listen to the story they’re trying to tell you, and you’ll do great.

Have fun with the half-life simulation lab! Be sure and post your data in the Half Life Lab web post by the time listed on the syllabus. Don’t forget to include pics and your graph! The lab report is to be submitted as a PDF 2X by the due date listed on the syllabus. 🙂

  1. I rate myself a 2/5 this week. Watching the vodcast I was able to write the notes but did understand them. While doing homework, it took me a long time because I was confused with some concepts. However I understand nuclear equations. I feel really overwhelmed for the test and can we please have help seasons.

  2. I would rate myself a 2/5 stars for this week. The homework I struggled on and it took me longer than I thought. I tried to take good notes, but some things I just didn’t understand and wasn’t able to ask questions. I would love a help session, especially before the test. I am still struggling on half-life problems and would love to work some during a help session!

  3. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I feel like I understand the concepts and the calculations, and that I did well on my homework. The only thing I need to work on is taking better notes because a lot of times on homework I would have to go back and look in the book because I wouldn’t have the info needed in my notes.

  4. I would rate myself 1/5 this week. I don’t understand much of what we are going over. Can we please have a help session?

  5. I rate myself 3/5 this week. I understood the calculations in this chapter, but am soft of struggling with some of the concepts. I agree with Katie and would really appreciate a help session.

  6. This week I kind of stuggled. Some of the concepts are harder to grasp, I think mainly because of not being able to ask questions and only watching the vodcast. I have learned that I learn better face-to-face rather than just watching videos. I think going over it a little bit more would help a lot and hopefully homework will not take as long because this week it took a really long time for me to do it. I agree that a help session(s) would be very beneficial

  7. I rate myself 3/5 stars this week. I understand the new material that we learned but I find it very difficult. The material was very difficult and I will have to watch the videos again. I am having a difficult time understanding it but it makes some sense. I have questions to ask but I’m not sure why I don’t really understand. I will review over the lessons and see what confuses me to better understand.

  8. This week I would rate myself a 3/5. I did well on the majority of the homework problems, but there are some concepts that I just can’t understand. I struggled understanding half life and a few other things. A help session would be great before the test.

  9. This week in Chemistry, I struggled with some of the things that were on the videos this week.
Triumph: I do feel like I understand the nuclear equations.
Struggle: I need a lot more practice on the half-life problems because I struggle doing those because I feel like I need more examples yo grasp the concept.

  10. This week I would rate myself a 3/5 stars. This is because even though I stayed on top of homework and had organized things, I don’t feel like i have been working ahead as much as I should have been. I have not been looking at the syllabus until the night before the homework is due, and I have not started studying for the next test. I know that I will better prepare myself and work ahead more by checking the syllabus more often. Also, I plan to start studying for the next test this weekend in order to be fully prepared for it next week.

  11. This week I would rate myself a 2/5. I feel like I understand the new concepts fairly well, but I also feel slightly overwhelmed by all the new information.

  12. I would rate myself 2/5 stars this week. I wasn’t there for a few of the vodcasts, so I am just having to go over them by myself. However, I feel like I am understanding the concepts a little. I am also stressing over the test a little and would love a help session!
