Hon Chemistry 10-21-16 Friday’s In Class Assignment

To My Beautiful Honors Chemistry Students: I miss you today! Here is the assignment for Friday:

A great way to practice writing and naming chemical formulas correctly is to go to sciencegeek.net and practice the Chemistry Review Activities. I want you to practice two sections from Unit 2 and Unit 3. Click on the sections below to go the the site.

Use your own scratch paper to do your work and figure out formulas. Be sure and check the syllabus to see how, when, and where you turn in this assignment. If you get done early, go back and practice other sections over and over until you can go through each one without making any mistakes!

IMPORTANT: When you are finished today, put your laptop up in the correct slot and plug it in!! Have a great day!

  1. this week I would rate myself a 4/5 stars. I really paid attention in class and took notes well. I could improve on reviewing things more often throughout my notes so I am not cramming everything. I understand all of the new things that we have learned so far and have been studying my polyatomic ions πŸ™‚

  2. I would rate myself a 4/5 this week. I feel like I did well this week with understanding how to name and write the chemical formulas. I also did well in today’s class assignment, so I think I can do well on this part of the test. Now all that is left is studying my polyatomic ions!

  3. I would rate myself 3/5 this week. I did pretty well with chemical formulas, but am still working on memorizing the polyatomic ions.

  4. This week I would rate myself a 4/5. I took notes well and understood the material. I didn’t have much trouble with the practice that we did in class.

  5. triumph: This week, I worked ahead which made the whole week a lot easier. I feel like I really understood the material in class. I also started memorizing my polyatomic ions earlier than usual so hopefully I will do better on this memorization quiz.

  6. I would rate myself a 4/5 stars. I understood the naming of the ions and compounds and creating of the formulas. I had a little difficulty in remebering the chloride is not chlorine but that was only occasionally today in class on the classwork.

  7. I would rate myself a 4/5 stars this week. I triumphed in understanding the material and it came really easy for me. I struggled this week with preparing (which I will work on) because I know I will have to cram in some memorization this weekend.

  8. This week I would rate myself as a 3 out of 5 stars. My rating is not that high this week because I was not as focused as I should have been. During the class period and while I did my assignments, I was not fully centered on the class or homework in front of me. This setback in my studies was because I was thinking about other things I had to do later. This mindset didn’t help me at all this week, and I plan on fixing it by only thinking about what is on front of me, and not what I have to do next. This negative mindset thus made me not do as well this week in Chemistry in my opinion.

  9. This week I’d rate myself a 4/5.
Triumph: When it came to the chemical formulas it was a little tricky at first, but after that I really got the hang of it and I’m doing pretty good.

Struggle: I struggles a little with wrapping my mind around everything and just understanding it, but hopefully it will get better with more practice.

  10. I would give myself a rating of 4/5 this week. I definitely felt that this was an easier week for me. There were a lot of notes, and I feel like I have finally gotten a hang of note taking. I’m happy that I have been understanding everything this week as well. Also, I have been studying the polyatomic ions a lot so I think I will be ready for the start of next week!

  11. I would rate myself a 2/5 this week. I have some work to do on my stock system and prefix system. I’m also struggling to keep up in my notes. On the other hand, the iron lab was a very successful and time managed well. Since the pre test is Monday I need to start studying now if I’m going to memorize it all.
