Hon Chemistry 10-18-16 Formulas with Polyatomic Ions

HON CHEMISTRY: Are you starting to see numbers in your sleep? Here’s our discussion on writing chemical formulas with polyatomic ions. The same………but different?

  1. Triumph: This week I was ahead because on Sunday night I printed off everything that I needed for chemistry this week. This allowed me to have all the materials in class during the lectures to look at for reference. I made polyatomic ion flashcards on Tuesday night and have started studying so I won’t be stressed Sunday night before the quiz. I plan to work ahead like this next time.

  2. Triumph: This week I worked ahead on homework and kept up with notes better in class. I did the homework due Thursday on Tuesday during school, and the homework due Friday on Monday. This helped me be able to focus on learning my polyatomic ions instead of procrastinating until the weekend.

  3. Triumph: In this chapter we are learning about chemical formulas and about different ions. I feel like I have understood the facts and concept behind writing a chemical formula for different ions. I need to start memorizing the polyatomic ions early so I don’t cram it in like I did the elements.

  4. I would rate myself a 3/5 so far for this week. I was really prepared at the beginning and through out the week. I worked ahead on assignments so I was not overwhelmed. However, some of the material we are learning is a little bit confusing so I need to be sure to practice more than usual so I can understand it a little more and be faster at it which is especially important for the test.

  5. Triumph: I feel like I understood the material pretty well this week. I stayed on top of the homework, followed along in class, and gave myself plenty of time to get everything done. I drew a lot from this lesson and even found that I enjoyed working these problems!

  6. Struggle: At first when we learned about the chemical formulas and ions, I felt like I was really confused because it all just kind of ran together. I read over my notes and the book and watched a few videos, and then I understood the chemical formulas better. I also struggled with drawing the diagrams from the thlab earlier this week, but when I got to class, I was able to talk to a friend who helped explain it better.
Triumph: I kept up taking notes this week in class, and I really understood how to write the chemical formulas when I worked on them during class Friday using the website on the computer, and I felt that I had greatly improved from Monday and Tuesday.
