Chemistry – Tech 101 Assignment Grades

CHEMISTRY: Have you checked your grades on Edline? If you have an ** or a 0 for any of the Tech 101 assignments, you must make corrections to receive credit for the assignment – and credit for the class. Check your grades on Edline to see if this applies to you and then read the notes below to learn what you must do.

Grade is X
If you have an X for one of the Tech 101 assignments, that means you have something wrong and need to fix it before you can get credit. I want you to be able to find and correct you own mistake. Let me know by texting me on Google Voice when you correct your mistake. Also let me know if you are having trouble making your corrections! Here are some hints of things to check.

  • Did you title the assignment correctly?
  • Did you scan the Lab Safety Rules and the Lab Apparatus as TWO separate PDFs? You should have 3 separate PDFs in your Chemistry Shared Folder.
  • Did you put all the pages of the Lab Safety Rules in one PDF?
  • Did you put all the pages of the Lab Apparatus in one PDF?
  • Did you put the pages of your scans in the correct order?

Grade is 0
If you have a 0 for one of the Tech 101 assignments, that means you didn’t turn in the assignment, or at least it’s not in your Google Drive Chemistry Shared Folder or in Turnitin.com. You must still complete the assignment to get credit for this class. Let me know by texting me on Google Voice when you complete the assignment and I will check you off the list. Also let me know if you are having trouble!

Chemistry 8-26-16 SI Measurements

CHEMISTRY – Hey guys, so is all the info on SI measurements starting to come back to you? Here’s the lecture from Friday. I’m sure it’s mostly review from your physical science days, but it’s a great opportunity to refresh what you’ve learned and to get ready to begin using it!

Did you remember the prefixes? Start work on memorizing them NOW – Si quantities, units, and SI prefixes. For the prefixes, also make sure that you can tell me how many of something in the larger one. (That’s what I explained in class.) The quiz on them for REGULAR CHEMISTRY will be next Wednesday, August 31, for HONORS CHEMISTRY the quiz will be Friday, September 2.

Physics 8-26-16 Velocity Problems

PHYSICS – Here are the velocity problems from Friday. You did a great job on these! Do you see what I mean about learning to think through them? Do you think you can tackle #11 now?

Stay strong on those next five problems! Make sure to do more than just show the math – be sure that I can also follow your logic in the formulas. Ditto with units, etc.

Don’t give up on the tortoise and the hare! A couple of hints: remember the problems we did in class today – it’s kind of like those. The distance the tortoise travels is the same as the distance the hare travels plus the extra 20 cm he was ahead. Also, the time the hare raced is equal to the time of the tortoise minus those two minutes he rested.

We’ll work through them in class if you need some help, but FIRST, make sure you have already worked them yourself – even if you think your work is wrong!

Now go have fun! And have a great weekend!! 🙂
