Physics 8-17-16 Measurements in Physics, Pt. 1

PHYSICS – Hey guys, here’s part 1 of the overview we did on the SI system. No sound on the vodcast from today, so I’m including the lecture from last year. 🙂

You remembered a lot! Were you surprised at yourself? The hardest part, I think, will be getting back in the habit of showing all your work, using conversion factors, units, dimensional analysis, sig figs, etc. We’ll finish reviewing sig figs on tomorrow. Happy, happy!

  1. I rate myself a 4 out of 5 for this week. Though the content itself has not been too challenging, I find myself going through an adjustment period and getting back into the swing of things. I belief that I did acceptable on the homework and labs; however, getting them done in a timely manner needs to be improved. Thank you for helping us review the units and conversions even though it still seems like basic stuff! Also, thank you for your assistance on the whirly-gig lab because you allowed us the use of the different colored papers.

  2. This week, I was able to apply everything that we learned about Evernote. Evernote is truly an amazing note-taking app and I’m so glad that this class has gotten me back into the habit of using it! My favorite application of Evernote is taking Jing snapshots of the online book’s diagrams or even diagrams off of our vodcasts (especially the ones about sig figs and SI prefixes, because I definitely needed a refresher on those!) so that I don’t have to rush and attempt to write them down in my notes during class. I can just put the diagrams’ images onto Evernote according to the section they are from, and then I can print them off and study them along with my hand-written notes!
