Hon Chemistry 4-28-16 Ideal Gas Law

HON CHEMISTRY: I meant to post this picture earlier! How much fun can you have with a Sprite can? Wow! Did you have a heart attack? More importantly were you able to tell me why it did what it did? Think about words like steam, condensation, atmospheric pressure.

How’d you like putting the gas laws together in the ideal gas law today? Pretty cool, huh?!? Don’t forget to memorize R!

HW Update: The answer to 49c is 1.06 atm

  1. This week in chemistry was fun. I really enjoy doing these types of problems but it is very easy to mess up on which is scary. I will prepare well for this test Monday. Also I enjoyed reviewing during class today. I rate myself a 4 of 5 for the week.

  2. This week was an interesting week of class. I rate myself a 3 out of 5 this week. I really struggled with memorizing all of the laws we learned. As the week went on, I started to get the hang of it. I am going to really need to study over the weekend for the upcoming test. I am going to work a bunch of problems to make sure I have all of the laws and the formulas that go with them down. I think if I prepare well this weekend I will do well on this test. I can’t wait to make some trash bags fly next week.

  3. This week was so busy!! I learned so much this week, which was a bit overwhelming. I definitely need to study for the test on Monday, but the last test was definitely a triumph for me!! I would rate myself at a 3/5 this week.

  4. We have learned a lot about gases the past two weeks! There will be a lot of information to study for the test on Monday, but I seem to really understand gas laws. Practicing partial pressure and diffusion/effusion problems today definitely helped me understand them more. A triumph this week was doing well on the last test.

  5. This week I struggled with learning all the laws and applying them in problems but after a lot of homework questions I got better at them. I didn’t do as good on the last test as I hoped, so I really need to study and do good on the next one. I would rate myself a 3/5 this week because I know the material but I need to get better at applying it.

  6. I struggled this week with learning all the laws and figuring out what laws went with what problems. I’ve been getting many of my homework problems correct, but I still need lots of practice. I hope to study a lot this weekend. The lab with the sprite can helped me to better understand this chapter, as did the visuals with scuba diving, hot-air balloons, etc. I rate myself a 3 out of five stars this week.

  7. This week in chemistry I have really learned a lot. We have a bunch of information to know for this chapter, but I am going to be well prepared Monday. I think I understand most of the laws and how to apply them to real life already. I am really sad we were not able to fly trash bags this week but I am looking forward to doing it soon.

  8. This week I would give myself a 3/5 because a struggle was that I made a lot of careless mistakes on my test and I could’ve done so much better. A triumph for this week was the boiling and freezing water lab. It was so cool to be able to change the temperature of water using salt. Caroline and I raised the boiling point to 103C and lowered it all the way to -7C. It was also cool to see how the condensation froze on the side of the beaker. I am going tot begin gathering all the materials to study for my exam this weekend and do my study guide. I hope I do really good on the exam.

  9. This week was so interesting!! I really enjoyed the labs this week, although I struggled with applying what we have learned to them. A triumph for me this week was the boiling and freezing point of water lab. My lab partner and i changed the temperatures by a few degrees which was super cool to see!! I am nervous W for the exam but I know if I study it’ll be ok. Can’t believe the year is almost over!! I would rate myself at a 3 out of 5 this week.
