Physics 4-25-16 Lenses

PHYSICS: So today we continued to apply what you’ve learned about refraction and played around with thin lenses. Did it remind you of mirrors? Tomorrow lets play a little bit more! 🙂

  1. I feel like I am really understanding the lense concepts well! I’m so excited for the end of the year but I will have to admit I’m going to miss all the phun we have in physics.

  2. The lenses lab was kind of confusing, but once we set up the lenses in line with the candle, it was fascinating. The convex lens produced a real image on the screen. Taylor cupped her hands around the burning candle, and I could see her fingers on the screen! Pretty cool!

  3. Cannot believe our last test in physics is Monday… my how time flies! Thank you for all of the knowledge you have filled our brains with this past year!!

  4. Struggle: I am struggling to understand the drawings and how to get answers from them. Especially when I have to draw the picture to scale in order to show my answers are accurate

  5. Struggle: this week i have struggled to understand how to correctly draw the lenses to scale in order to get the correct answer.

  6. Struggle: I struggling to understand some of the concepts of mirrors. Also, i’m gonna have to make sure to not get messed up with the rays of mirrors and lenses, although the labs have helped to apply and visualize the concepts

  7. Rate: I have to give myself a 3/5 for the week because I’m not completely understanding the lens and refraction concepts. Hopefully after I practice drawing plenty of ray diagrams this weekend I’ll be prepared for Tuesday’s test!

  8. I would rate myself a 5 out of 5 this week. I understood all of the lenses concepts which also sort of helped me with mirrors! The only thing I struggled with was understanding the candle lab!

  9. Struggle: I’m having a hard time understanding how to draw Ray diagrams and get accurate information from them. I plan on practicing this weekend to get gain a better understanding. Hopefully the practice and review on Monday will prepare me for the test!

  10. Struggle: This week I have struggled with understanding what the lab was all about. I struggled getting all the homework done on time.

  11. Triumph: I understand ray diagrams a little better after this week! The concepts are slowly being grasped too! Because of this chapter, I look at the world around me in a new way, with a different perspective, with new lenses!

  12. Struggle: Lenses have been more difficult for me to understand than mirrors. I think I am getting some of the information confused. The lab also confused me when we got to both lenses. Maybe after writing up that lab and looking over the homework I will have a better understanding,

  13. Struggle: I’ve been so busy this week, and I still have so much to do to be ready for Tuesday and Wednesday. I have labs to write up, a test to study for, and the Batman packet to finish with my group. I’m really stressed out right now, but I know I have to make studying for the test a priority. I don’t want to blow it now that I’m so close! 🙂
