Physics 4-19-16 Refraction, Pt. 2

PHYSICS: Here’s the lecture from tuesday on refraction, critical angles and total internal reflection. So…..did you find it? What color is a polar bear?

Change in plans – we’re going to play a bit with refraction tomorrow. We’ll do thin lenses Monday when we get back from Six Flags!

  1. After REFLECTING on the week, I’ve decided to rate myself a 5/5. I’m understanding the concepts of reflection and refraction pretty well, and our lab today was a cool way of seeing those concepts in action! It was also really interesting to use the “old fashioned method” instead of lasers.

  2. I really feel like I am understanding the concepts of reflection and refraction. It still bothers me that polar bears might actually be some weird color under their fur, but I’m not gonna shave one to find out!

  3. Success: I think I understand refraction much better after the lab on Wednesday. The total internal reflection makes much more sense now.

  4. Triumph: after being utterly confused, I figured out the reflection and refraction lab. Now I can see a real example of refraction! Now let’s go see more physics at six flags!! 👍

  5. I would rate myself a 5 out of 5 for this week. I understood refraction and didn’t think the lab was too hard to understand. I also had a lot of fun at six flags!

  6. Triumph: Six flags was very fun today!! I could feel all the centripetal and centrifugal force when riding ALL the rides!!!! So much physics all around us! By the way, Ms. Skinner can whip in this mini van!

  7. Triumph: I did fairly well on my physics test that we got back this week, I learned a lot, and my group finished the packet pretty quickly!

  8. Six Flags was awesome! I loved how I could definitely see the Law of Conservation of Momentum with the rollercoasters. Potential to kinetic!!!

  9. Success: We collected all our data today in a timely fashion and made sure that we had all the data we needed. Thanks to my group for working hard, being awesome, and dragging me on every ride. I had a blast at Six Flags today!

  10. This week I loved going to six flags. Being able to see the concepts of physics being acted out in the real world makes it alot easier for me to understand.
