Chemistry 2-8-16 Orbital Notation & Electron Configuration Notation

CHEMISTRY: Wow, you did a great job today! Did quantum numbers begin making more sense when you started using them? Good work today on orbital notation. I think you’re going to be seeing arrows and numbers in your sleep!

Then, just when you were getting the hang of drawing arrows, I go and change it! But don’t you think writing electron configuration notation is a whole lot shorter than doing orbital notation? Don’t get me wrong, knowing how to do orbital is great for seeing how the electrons are paired, but this way is waaaay shorter!

Be sure and practice with the homework tonight, and don’t forget to use the Aufbau “chart” that you learned to draw last Friday!!!!

Need extra practice or help with this chapter? Help session this Thursday morning, 7:20ish A.M.

  1. This week we have learned how to do orbital notation and it has really helped with the periodic table and learning it what I can do to help myself study for this test is practice these every night.

  2. This week we learned about orbital notation and electron configuration. We also studied noble gas notation and periods and blocks on the periodic table. We have had a lot of homework this week, but it is giving us practice and knowledge on how to do these types of problems for the test on Tuesday. The notations and configurations aren’t easy, so I need to work many practice problems. On top of all of this, we even have a lab tomorrow, so the I need to read it well to prepare for it.
