King of the Hill Competition 2016

PHYSICS: Terrific job on the King of the Hill competition!!! I’m really proud of the work that all of you did on your cars.

It was a fierce, head to head battle with car flying all over the track, but at last the strongest car emerged victorious! Congratulations, Taylor, on being King of the Hill! Also, congrats to Ben and Austin for winning the distance and speed races! (And thanks, Lyndsey, for the photos!)

  1. Rate: I give myself a 4/5 for the week. I feel good about our King of the Hill competition! It was stressful but also really fun to utilize physics concepts to design our cars, and I definitely did not expect my car to do a backflip!

  2. I feel like we all had major success this week! All of the cars were really great in design, and I was amazed at all the different ways one could power a car! So glad we had that opportunity to grow and learn more about the simple engineering process!

  3. I think I’d rate myself a 4 out of 5 for this week. I stayed caught up on my assignments for the most part, but I was kind of disappointed in the performance of my car in the king of the hill competition. Also, triumph: I got all the problems on the circular motion II worksheet. But I am looking forward to working some of those out in class; I’m not sure I’m drawing them correctly.

  4. I would rate myself a 4 out of 5 for this week. I thought I did pretty well on the problems we’ve done and understood most of the concepts. I just wish my car had done better!

  5. Rate myself a 3 out of 5 for the week. I have been able to get the right answer but sometimes it takes alittle bit to figure them out or sometimes I don’t completely know why some of the stuff works the way it does. However, I am getting better and will be ready for the test next Thursday

  6. Rate: 4 of 5. I feel that I did pretty good this week and got most if not all of the homework problems! I also feel like we worked semi-efficiently on our labs.

  7. Triumph: I am happy with my success in the King of the Hill competition this week. Because momentum must be conserved, the speed of the rat traps correlate with the speed of the wheels turning.

  8. Triumph: I feel as though I better understand circular motion after that worksheet and the centripetal force lab. I need to work on a couple of the problems, but over all I am feeling good about this chapter.

  9. Triumph: I feel like I we all had success with our cars! The lab has also help me to understand the concept circular motion and centripetal forces and acceleration.

  10. Triumph: this week was a good week. I watched T Churchwell and M Baker dominate in the king of the hill competition. I also am starting to understand the concepts behind centripetal force!

  11. I found it very interesting to learn that centripetal force actually is pulling you toward the center of the circle. I feel like I am really understanding the concepts though!

  12. Triumph: king of the hill this week was a success!! I also an beginning to better understand the problems and get the right answer!! Still needing help with some of the conceptual though!

  13. Triumph: this week i have enjoyed testing our cars and learning about circular motion. On the worksheets and homework i have been getting most of the problems correct.
