thLAB: Building Your Balance

CHEMISTRY: Pretty cool, huh?!? Do you understand now how a balance works?

A couple of IMPORTANT things about doing and writing up thLABs:

  • Yes – you ALWAYS do all the questions on labs.
  • Always to the extension on thLABs if there is one, but if you are not sure, ASK!
  • The actual masses of the coins can be found on the Internet. Google it!!
  • Yes, you find your percent error on each coin – make sure you show your work with formula and units!!
  • Be sure and give yourself plenty of time to upload to the Google Drive Assignment Turn-In folder and Turnitin.com!
  • The info for setting up your turnitin.com account is on the first day Tech Overview sheet – it’s under the worksheet tab. That sheet will give you the password and show you where to find the other instruction.

Holler if you have any other questions. Have fun with your lab!!

  1. This lab really tested my skills in writing up a lab. I was not able to get accurate measurements because I did not balance my scale. I also found it hard to be precise with the syringe. For the next lab I do I will make sure to give myself plenty of time to write it up. For this week I rate myself a 3 out of 5 because I missed a few homework assignments.

  2. Building your own balance project was difficult for me at first because I have never done any type of lab on my own at home. But as I read through everything on the packet it seemed to get easier and I started to understand more. Using the syringe and all the other equipment for the lab was all new to me. But after setting everything up I think I buckled it down
