  1. I rate myself a 4/5 this week. I understand balancing equations and the activity series, but I have a little trouble with types of reactions.

  2. I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 stars for this week. I understand how to balance chemical equations but the worksheets showed me that I have issues finding the product of an equation. I also struggle with the different types of chemical reactions but hopefully learning my rules will help me with that.

  3. I would rate myself a 2 out of 5 stars this week. i did not do well on my test because I did not study enough. Before the test on Monday, I will study efficiently by creating a Quizlet for the memorizations and practicing balancing equations. After that, I should make a better grade.

  4. This week I learned about the 5 different types of reactions which are synthesis, decomposition, single replacement, double replacement, and combustion. I also learned that a combustion reaction is when hydrocarbons burn in air to produce carbon dioxide and water. I would rate myself a 4 out of 5 on this because I feel confident in writing balanced chemical equations and identifying the type of reactions each equation is.

  5. this week I rate myself 4 out of 5 stars. I believe I did well on the quiz and I understood the rules better. I feel like I need to memorize the polyatomic ions better before the test and the acids. I did not understand exactly the rules for how the charges take place but after memorizing the elements that can replace each other I understood it a lot better. I know that calcium can replace hydrogen.

  6. This week I rate myself a 3 out of 5 stars. I give myself this rating because of how poorly I did on the balancing equations worksheet 3. I do feel however that I am finally starting to get it. I believe learning the rules has helped me as well as the help session we had this morning. I will continue to practice them over the weekend to improve myself and to get ready for the test.

  7. This week I learned about the types of chemical reactions. I realized that to balance chemical equations correctly, I’ll have to memorize the rules of the five types (synthesis, decomposition, single-replacement, double-replacement, and combustiom) and the Activity series that tells me which elements are more reactive than others. This weekend, I’ll study by reviewing my notes and continuing to memorize and prqctice applying what I am memorizing!

  8. I rate myself a 3.5 out of 5 stars this week. I rate myself this because I understand how to balance chemical formulas but sometimes I go to fast and don’t double check. But I also give myself a lower grade because sometimes I forgot about the activity series and how more reactive metal oxides don’t react. It also helped me to learn how to balance chemical equations becoming to the help session this morning

  9. This week was a challenging week for me because of all of the balancing equation problems we had to work. As the week went on i started to understand how to use the rules worked and how to use them. because of this i would rate myself a 3 out of 5.

  10. I’d rate myself a 4/5 stars this week. I got to understand how to balance chemical equations better this week thanks to the worksheets we did for homework. I also memorized the 5 different reactions as well.

  11. This week I give myself 4/5 stars. I give myself this because I adequately learned the different types of chemical equations. The different types of equations include synthesis, decomposition, single replacement, double replacement, and combustion reactions. I not only learned these, but I learned the rule for every one of them. Have a good weekend!

  12. I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 this week. Practicing in class really helps me understand how to balancing and write equations. The lab today showed me how chemical reactions really work. I plan to study harder for this test Monday.

  13. This week I rate myself a 3 out of 5. I didn’t memorize all of the reaction rules. However, the worksheets we have done helped me balance equations and know which rule went with each equation.

  14. I rate myself a 3 out of 5 because this week I learned a lot more about how to balancing equations by us doing all those worksheetd

  15. Well, I forgot to enter the anti-spam words so the website deleted my comment.. Anyways, this week I rate myself a 0 out of 5. I thought that I knew the material for the quiz, but it turns out I did not. Moreover, my grade on the test was lower than expected. I thought that I had a better understanding of Lewis Structures and Dipoles. I was wrong. Overall, this week taught me that I need to understand the material more than I realized before I am ready to be tested on it.

  16. This week I rate myself 2 out of 5 stars because I did not do a good enough job memorizing the 17 types of chemical reactions. I was able to identify chemical reactions decently when I used my notes, but I wasn’t prepared enough for the quiz. I will get better at this by studying the types of reactions and practicing problems before the test on Monday.

  17. The help session today showed me what I need to study for the test on Monday. I definitely need to know the activity series and the 17 types of reactions very well. Without knowing those, I will not be successful with balancing equations. I have the tendency to not put the charges on the elements because I think that I don’t need to write it down. Obviously, I keep missing them. I also need to be careful on writing the coefficients. I have to remember to be careful when I am counting the number of elements. I often count incorrectly. Especially when the same element is found within multiple places in the equation.

  18. This week I learned about the chemical reactions, synthesis, combustion, single replacement, double replacement, and decomposition. I also learned that the activity series tells us how reactive elements are. I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 for the week because I didn’t do very well on the balancing equation worksheets but I think if I practice balancing them more then I will do better.

  19. This week I would rate myself a 3 out of five. I really need to work harder on learning the different rules of the chemical changes.

  20. I rate myself 4 out of 5 stars for this week. I am doing well with the balancing chemical equations and knowing the different types of reactions and their products. I think it was cool that brown precipitant formed on the the aluminum wire because of the copper (II) chloride. I also am proud of myself for knowing it was a single-replacement reaction.

  21. This week I rate myself 3 out of 5 stars. I struggled with remembering what reactions occured and the rules for them. I mostly struggled with remembering the synthesis rules. I have gotten better with balancing the equations though and remembering the coefficients. With some more practice and by making and studying my notecards I am confident that I will memorize the synthesis rules. The lab this week was also very fun! It was cool to see chemical reactions take place right in front of our eyes!

  22. this week we learned about the different types of chemical reactions, the 17 rules that apply to each reaction, how to balance chemical equations, and the activity chart. This week I struggled with writing the chemical equation rather than balancing it. I feel like I am good in balancing I just have my struggles in writing them out. I need to study the 17 rules very thoroughly and apply them to each problem. also, I struggled on figuring out which type of reaction the equation is. To help me with this problem, over the weekend, I am going to study the chemical rules and activity chart to help me improve this skill. Also, over the weekend I am going to change my study habits on studying for the test on Monday. I have had bad study habits for each test and I will change them this time and work more examples and apply my notes to actual problems. I give my self a 3 out of 5 for the week.

  23. Do we know what our extra credit science in the news is yet? I’d like to go ahead and start working it!

  24. This week i would rate myself a 3 out of 5. I have not done a good job at memorizing the chemical equations. i also have trouble with balancing equations. i will study relentlessly for this up coming test. i need to do well on this test. i will practice balancing chemical equations until i feel i can do a good job.

  25. This week I rate myself a 3 out of 5 because I didn’t fully complete both chemical equation worksheets but as I was working on them they helped me learn the rules for all of the types of equations like synthesis, double replacement, single replacement, etc. although I didn’t do well on the quiz this let me know that I just need to study then twice as much for the test on Monday!

  26. This week I got lots of practice on how to represent what’s going on in a chemical reaction through an equation and balancing it. I really think I have that down, but I am struggling with identifying which rule on the activity series goes with. I’d give myself a 3 out of 5 for the week. I felt very prepared and confident about my work, but didn’t do as well as I thought I would do. This shows me that I need to really practice and be able to apply the rules for the test.

  27. I rate myself 2/5 because I had a lot of trouble with balancing chemical equations and will work on them before the test

  28. I rate myself a 2/5 this week because I am struggling with the double replacement reaction. Although, i am getting much better at balancing equations because of all the worksheets! I plan to study really hard this weekend and learn all the reactions for the test on Monday! Also I really enjoyed the lab. The reaction of the acid was awesome!

  29. If I rated myself for this week it would probably be a 1 out of 5. I didn’t prepare for the last test like I should have, and the bad grade brought my average down tremendously. I didn’t do good on balancing chemical equations either, I’m gonna have to practice those a lot in order to prepare for the test,

  30. This week I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 because i was having a lot of trouble with balancing chemical equations. The worksheets and going over them have helped me, and the quiz we took showed me how I need to prepare for the test. This week I also learned all the different types of reactions, but i still need practice identifying them.

  31. This week I would rate myself a 2 out of 5 stars. I struggled with the types of chemical reactions but I learned what I need to do to study this weekend to make a good grade on this last test.

  32. I probably rate myself a 3 out of 5 on learning all the chemical reactions and then trying to use them to balance a equation

  33. I would give myself a 2 out 5 this week. Doing the Balancing equations worksheets made me realize that I didn’t know as much as I thought I did, especially with the types of reactions. [though, I did have confidence on them.]
I still need to keep memorizing them so I have it down solid. Although doing the worksheets, actually helped me memorize and refresh myself on certain acids. This weekend, I’m going to look over the acitivity series, the 17 types of reactions, and vocabulary as well as gettibg balancing equations, and so on.
I also am going to practice on writing the equations out so I don’t make any pointless mistakes. I didn’t do well on the last test, and I want to end this last one as well as possible.

  34. I rate myself a 2 out of 5 this week. I am struggling a lot with the reactions that occur. I really need to work harder on memorizing the rules so I can do well on my test Monday.

  35. This week was very challenging week for me. We had to memorize the 17 types of chemical reactions and learn to apply them. When I first started worksheet 3, it was very difficult and I just couldn’t figure it out. Once I got to the second page, I had gotten used to having to look over at the sheet (having not yet memorized it enough to be by memory). Balancing equations is now the lesser of my worries now that the types are involved. After the quiz Thursday, I now know what I need to study and how I need to study to do well on the test Monday. I would rate myself a 3.5 out of 5.

  36. I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 this week. Balancing equations is steadily becoming easier thanks to all the worksheets and practice. Hopefully I will be well prepared for the test on Monday!

  37. I would rate myself a 3 out of 5 this week on balancing equations and learning the 17 chemical reactions by memory which was challenging. The help session this morning really helped me feel more confident about what I know and it helped me realize what I need to study more. I need to work on memorizing the activity series list by memory so I’ll be able to apply it for the test Monday.

  38. I did good on balancing equations but I still need to work on memorizing the rules. I enjoyed the lab today on chemical reactions it was neat to see how the chemical equations tied into the lab with the products. I would be a 4 out of 5 this week.

  39. I rate myself a 2 out of 3 stars this week because I did poorly and my grade shows for it but I learned my lesson and the worksheet 4 helped my a lot with the 17 chemical reactions.

  40. I give my self 2 out of 5 stars this week because I did not do the work to the best of my ability. The lab today really showed me how cool reactions can be. I learned to balance equations more efficiently in class this week.

  41. This week I rated myself a 3 out of 5 because I have a very difficult time learning the seventeen different reactions and that made balancing chemical equations very difficult.I studied really hard and resulted in having better clarity of the balancing equations.

  42. Do we have to do the homework on the syllabus tonight? I think you said we did not but I can’t remember

  43. I rate myself a 5 out of 5 for this YEAR! I have learned so much from your teaching, labs, and memorization! It has been an amazing year and I look forward to using everything you have taught me this year and finishing the year strongly with a great exam! Oh! And I’ll try to remember not to scream like a girl in the next labs I do! Have a great summer Ms.Skinner!

  44. I have thoroughly enjoyed having you as my teacher this year! It flew by so fast!!! However, it’s not over yet and I am going to be busy all weekend doing that studyguide 🙂 thank you for that by the way!! I rate myself a 4/5 this week because the experiments we did in class were extremely cool and helpful. Also, I need to be sure to learn my chemical equations better!! Thank you for an amazing year of chemistry! Love you!!!
