Chemistry 5-1-12 Single Replacement, Double Replacement & Combustion Rxns

CHEMISTRY: Wow! We did a lot today in just a very short amount of time! Here’s the lecture on the review and new notes on single replacement (with a little intro to the activity series), double replacement, and combustion reactions. Now that you’ve got everything on paper, let’s play with them tomorrow. First, the quiz. Then you’ve got to remind me to show you this really cool demo on combustion rxns. I call it “flaming bubbles”! And don’t forgot – we’ll start with the quiz! Good luck studying, I’ll be praying for you!!

    • We have at least 11 more school days until exams. That’s probably enough time for one more test.

  1. Never mind, my bad Ms. Skinner. I heard on the podcast that we will make them up next wk after the craziness is over.

  2. ms skinner, would you put the most recent vodcasts on your podcast because I’m not always at my computer and i would like to take them if I’m going somewhere?

  3. Ms skinner!
Someone said there was a sheet for those things we had to memorize. Are those on edline?

  4. these reactions are really difficult to understand. I am studying them though so hopefully I’ll get the hang of them.

  5. The combustion thing you showed us in class today was super cool. Definetly need a help session for this test along with a bunch of studying.

  6. Mrs. Skinner those were the hardest quizzes I’ve ever taken. I see i need to learn these and practice more. I want to do good on this test coming up. I also enjoyed the exploding bubble, it was awesome hope we get to do one more lab relating to the exploding bubble. Have a good weekend Mrs. Skinner.

  7. Even thought I’ve been absent lately, I think I’m finally getting these chemical reactions down!

  8. Constantly redoing the reaction problems in the book is really helping me comprehend the process of memorizing the formulas.

  9. tomorrow when i take my test and two quizzes, i need my lab writeup sheet so i can write up my gases lab

    • Aidan – This is the coolest lab, but I’m not going to give you the procedure, you’re going to design the lab yourself! Look on the second page of the syllabus. The instructions for you are on that page. Holler if you can’t find it. 🙂
