HON CHEMISTRY: Good luck in studying for the test tomorrow! Here’s the (very fast) test review we did today. Also, click here if you need the Chapter 7 Study Suggestions sheet, or there is also a copy on Edline. Are you feeling overwhelmed? I know it seems like a lot, but you can do it! First priority – make sure you can write and name chemical formulas!!! Next, start practicing the different kinds of problems. And don’t forget, help session tomorrow morning, 7:15 A.M. Good luck – I’ll be praying for you!

When naming chemical formulas, how do you determine which system to use?

Marissa – For ionic compounds you use the Stock system, or, for a few like copper and iron, you can use the traditional/Latin system. For molecules, covalent compounds, you can use either the Stock system or prefixes. Use only one system, not both at the same time. And remember, the Stock system uses a Roman numeral if the positive ion/atom can have more than one charge/oxidation number.

I know we just had the test today, but I’m still a little confused about what an ionic compound is exactly.

Will we still be doing the polymer lab even though we did not have to write it up?

Was it just me, or was that test really easy? I don’t know if that’s good or bad…

For explore zone, how many classes will there be?

K5 through 6th grade will be there so I think there would be about 450 kids and there will also probably be some junior high and high school classes come too so that would be probably add up to be about 6 or 7 hundred. In other words, there will be A LOT of people coming.

Will we just miss class all day on the day of explore zone? Will any classes come together, or will they just come one at a time?

hey all explore zone people! This year students are in charge of the publicity of this event so we need you guys to help us out. If you could tell me or katherine or anyone else in publicity (I’m not aware of anyone else but I haven’t checked in a while) what exhibit your doing and any experiments and who is in your group that your stand is doing that would really help us in making flyers and telling teachers who will be attending what is going on. and if you don’t see this until friday email me the info with explore zone in the subject line. my email is threeskeletonkey@gmail.com thanks
