Use what talents you possess, for the woods would be silent if no birds sang except for the best. – Henry van Dyke
CHEMISTRY: Well, we finally finished the chapter! Did you realize molecules could be that large? And so many of them. But don’t you think polymers are cool? Some items for contemplation: why are certain plastics recyclable and others not…and what about dishwasher and microwave safe?

i know the linear polymers are thermoplastic.. and the crosslinked polymers are thermosetting.. but what classification do the branched polymers get in there response to heat?
March 25th, 2010 at 4:55 PM
Branched polymers can be either thermosetting or thermoplastic. Some might be thermoplastic while others are thermosetting.
March 25th, 2010 at 6:27 PM
JK – they behave more like crosslinked polymers – thermosetting.

What are monomers??
March 25th, 2010 at 5:54 PM
Monomers are the smallest unit that makes up a polymer.
March 25th, 2010 at 6:15 PM
What are additional polymers?
March 25th, 2010 at 7:05 PM
to find the empirical formula you have to go from percent to mass then mass to moles and divide by the smallest number to make the formula

When does a polymer become non-recyclable?
March 26th, 2010 at 11:26 AM
the recycle number is on all polymers right?
March 26th, 2010 at 12:10 PM
polymers that have low numbers i think 1-4 are all recyclable but anything higher would be unrecyclable
March 26th, 2010 at 2:59 PM
r we guna study polymer again after test
March 26th, 2010 at 5:24 PM
I enjoyed learning about polymers
March 26th, 2010 at 7:40 PM
Can there be polymers in metals too?
April 2nd, 2010 at 11:42 AM
what was the date for the project. when is it due
April 2nd, 2010 at 7:01 PM
the project is due april 20th when you walk into class.

Do we have to have a source for the map and compass?
April 3rd, 2010 at 9:55 PM
Drew – you need a source for EVERYTHING! Nothing, but nothing is common knowledge!
April 6th, 2010 at 6:01 PM
Could we possibly have the test on Monday because the video wasnt working today and I’m having trouble with this chapter
April 6th, 2010 at 7:31 PM
Drew – I’m thinking the test will still be Friday. If I move anything, it will be the lab. Help session??
