Hon Chemistry 10-27-09 Photoelectric Effect
HON CHEMISTRY: So what are some examples of the photoelectric effect? Have you ever seen it in person? I’m betting you have! Here’s the lecture from Tuesday. Good job on the problems today. Make sure you are careful to learn the symbols and units for each of the quantities you’re going to use, it’s easy to get them confused.

ms. skinnner, when you taught this the other day, you sketched out the experiment for us. you drew a metal plate hooked up to a light bulb. but i thought that when hertz discovered the photoelectric effect, the light bulb was not yet invented. was that einstein’s experiment that you drew for us? if so, what did hertz use to detect the current? something i read said the photoelectric effect used a galvanometer hooked up to a metal plate. is that what he used? and what is a galvanometer, anyway?
