Hon Chemistry 10-15-09 Structure of the Atom
HON CHEMISTRY – Hey guys, here’s the lecture from Thursday on how scientists determined the structure of the atom and the existance of subatomic particles. Make sure you know the name of the scientists, the name of their experiments, be able to draw a diagram of their experiment, and describe how they interpreted the experimental results that led to their discoveries. Wow, that’s a mouthful! Do you think there could be anything smaller?

I’m a little confused about how subatomic particles of an atom can stick together, and wouldn’t the electrons constantly be trying to bond with protons?

On the model of the atom we saw, it shows the electrons circling the atom. Why do the electrons circle it like that?

Thanks so much for recording your lessons! It is going to make catching up so much easier!!! I get the proton/neutron/electron thing we went over today!!!
