Lost in the Grand Erg Occidental

How’s it going with the project? Here are a few things to remember:
Grand Erg Occidental
1. Make sure you make printed copies of the sources you use from the Internet and any books that aren’t in our library. Copy the first page and the page that you use, and highlight the portions that you use. Staple multiple pages.

2. Never use the URL in the internal documentation. Always use the title of the article or the heading of the website page, if it’s from the Internet.

3. Your internal documentation should be the first thing you have listed in your Works Cited. For example, the author, the name of the book, the Internet title, dictionary entry, etc.

4. Each time you mention one of the main 32 items in your paper, use a bold font or underline it so it will be easy to see.

5. Your copied sources should be in the order that they occur in your paper. Your Works Cited should be in alphabetical order.

6. Make sure you write the internal documentation on your illustrations, as well as in your paper. And don’t forget to include it in the Works Cited.

7. Double check to make sure you don’t have anything in the internal documentation that isn’t in your Works Cited, and vice versa.

Good luck!! I’m praying for you!!!

    ms skinner,
i was wondering if as a reason not to bring something if we could say that it could be used for example to make a thermometer but we dont have the other material needed to make it…sorry if that doesnt make any sense

    Ms. Skinner Reply:

Katie – yes, it makes sense, but make sure you really don’t have the other things you would need to make that thing.

    Hey, Ms. Skinner!

I was just wondering if, once we state something’s use and document it, do we need to document the use again if we mention it later?

Like, say, we state that glass is sharp and can cut things. If in a later paragraph we mention that we cut something using the glass, do we have to document it again?

    Thanks!

    Ms. Skinner Reply:

Rachel-Chloe – No, if you’ve already documented it once in the paragraph, you don’t have to keep doing it for the same item/reason.

  3.   Katherine Robinson Says:

    Hey, Ms. Skinner!

Do we have to have a reason to use or not to use every item in our pocket in addition to the 32 items? And if we use them, do we put them in the section of things we do take?

    Thanks!

    [Reply]

  4.   Ms. Skinner Says:

Katherine – no, you’re only responsible for the 32 items. You’ll probably use some of the other items with the 32, however. Hope that helps!

What information do we need on our title page?

    [Reply]

    Ms. Skinner Reply:

Hi Manasi, just the regular stuff for the title page. Title, your name, date, class info. Place it like you would a regular title page in English. Good luck!

do we put all of our printed stuff in binder rings or in the pockets?

    [Reply]

No binder! Check out the project packet. I believe it says something about the pockets of a folder……. :)

do we have to have the items that could be put together in a paragraph or could we just have them all seperately? (like if i had a par. about HCl and one about NaOH and then talked about them together at the end of the NaOH par.?)

    Ms. Skinner Reply:

    Yep, that’s okay!

Ms. Skinner, Is there a certain amount of days that we are left in the desert or is that up to us?

    [Reply]

  12.   Ms. Skinner Says:

You can assume that, if you’ve done everything right, that you’ll be rescued in three days. I’d go with that.

  13.   Ms. Skinner Says:

Cody – that last comment was for you, by the way! Good luck!

  14.   Rachel Laster Says:

    Ms. Skinner Reply:

Rachel – you can do it either way.

  15.   Rachel-Chloe Says:

    It’s me again!

Um, if we have a website with an author, do we use that author’s last name for internal documentation? Or just the article title still?

    [Reply]

    Ms. Skinner Reply:

I’d use the one that is the most obvious – just because it’d be easier to see and grade. If the author is at the top and easy to see, use that. Otherwise, use the title.
