Chemistry 4-9-09 Intro to Stoichiometry

CHEMISTRY: Happy Thursday! Hey guys, here’s the lecture on the intro to stoichiometry. Today we did the first of the four stoichiometry problems: mole-mole problems. Major trouble with the audio today, so I’m posting the vodcast from honors last week. Have a wonderful Easter!

nikkie, a mole ratio is the ratio of moles in a chemical equation yeah your welcome

jeeen… stoichiometry is what uses the ratio and proportion stuff. theres 2 kinds.. one is about composition and the other is about reactions (ratios of reactions and products) but they second one is the one we will use the most in our class i think

when do you know if you are suppose to use molar mass or mole ratio or both?

i think that the problem will always tell you which one to use so you wont have to choose you will always know

A mole ratio is how many moles are in one element of a compound that are shown proportionally to the moles of another element.

Elizabeth Anderson : Stoichmetry is simply the math behind chemistry. Stoichiometry provides the quantitative relationship between reactants and products in a chemical reaction.

No it will not be difficult for you to learn, its very simple.

  21.   Rachel Laster Says:

Beth Ann- You use mole ration when you need to convert A to B. The only way you can convert them is using the mole ratio, which is the coefficients of your balanced chemical equation.

What is the actual yield of a product?

    [Reply]

    Katherine Robinson Reply:

The actual yield is the actual amount the reaction produces in real life. This is always given. It is always less than the theoretical yield, the amount you calculate in a stoichioometry problem.

  24.   Will Harden Says:

Can you go from mass A straight to mass B?

    Jed Porter Reply:

    Will:
No, I believe you must go from mass A to mole A; then to mole B and then to mass B.
